stockmanjr
NYC Sanitation is putting out a call for extra truck drivers. I'm guessing alot of the normal guys are on vacation and they are afraid of being short this is according to WABC
jm1220
Looks like a new band is getting organized off the NJ coast and just SE of here. We're in a (relative) lull at the moment where visibility may be a crack over 1/4SM. Winds continue to pick up and already drifts are getting bad. Reports of numerous car accidents, and a pedestrian hit by a car in Long Beach.

Chris L
The RUC is implying a deformation bands like all the great ones that have socked us; February 2006, February 2010 (2/10 and 2/25) '96 blizzard and Feb '83. Just a classic track with intense sfc low cyclogenesis.

goombatommy
I've got this tickling feeling that some of these heavier bands will make it through at least up to the lehigh valley - this isn't an IMBY weenie thing, but just wait until this thing bombs out later this evening. jm1220
NAM just annihilates Nassau County under an intense deformation band until well after midnight. 2.12" QPF printed out for right around Jones Beach/Massapequa. This new band developing SE of here could have thunder associated with it. Just UNREAL how gorgeous this baby looks on sat and increasingly radar. goldstar
Any indication if this thing will get captured before it gets above Long Island? I like the idea of bands making back here if the storm backs in, and tucks in just south of NYC does anyone see that as a possibility or is this storm too progressive? swataz
This is actually starting to freak me out a little bit. I am starting to believe that Central/Western-Central Suffolk may top 2 feet at this point with ease. Just studying this thing on the radar is both awe-inspiring and frightening! Beautiful to behold, and only a few days ago, this was pegged as going out to see. Amazing how nature has its own mind sometimes!

nzucker
Absolutely pouring snow here right now Not sure what's happening because radar looks good, but we're not getting very intense snowfall rates here in Southern Westchester. The precip seems to be a bit showery in nature, and I'm worried that areas of NJ and LI are going to get WAY more than here.
danstorm
all the immediate nyc metro airports are going to push 20" SN+ in Lower Manhattan right now, ~ 2" on the ground, tough to tell on the roof, though.
jm1220
Looking at the radar just east of Delaware and S NJ, that band is just ridiculous. Wherever that parks over when it translates up here will likely get in excess of 20" total.

Thing is, if the band gets more intense than progged, someone will hit close to 30"?

Stormlover74
And yet Mt Hollys updated zone forecasts give most areas 3 to 6" more snow overnight. Even if there were 6" on the ground by tonight that would mean a foot tops in their forecast area. JM, I think Upton's call of 20-25" is lookng pretty good right now if bands can be intense.
