canderson
Peaking in from the no-snow island of Harrisburg (not a flake here) to congratulate you guys. It has been fun reading your posts tonight - reminds me of 2/10. Hope this stalls and you guys get hammered even more!
FreeRain
Steve D reporting that another 500 MB low is forming over the surface low, and actually drifting west. Thus he states, "Here comes the stall." Does anybody know where exactly is the surface low? I do see a rotation off of the Hamptons.
Stormlover74
I would say all of union county has 12-20" based on the reports I've seen ....and that's in 11 hours ....very similar to 12/30/00 where some places had 2 feet or more in 12 hours Hmm. Mahwah apparently has 17 inches. I'm not too far from there. Wonder if it's inflated
NorthShoreWx
What is peculiar is that Islip is warmer than Shirley and Farmingdale, even though all observations were taken within a 20 minute period and the winds are basically the same direction. Even more peculiar, I was warmer than ISP at that time (I'm 10 miles NW of ISP)...got up to 30 around 30 minutes ago and have since crashed back down to 25. There is some funky stuff going on, little of which involves heavy precip for Smithtown, although we are still accumulating. It might be better than I think...eventually I'll put the boots on and go measure again. First I think I am going to make my wife and I a rusty nail. Northwest NJ
Hmm. Mahwah apparently has 17 inches. I'm not too far from there. Wonder if it's inflated I am in northeastern Sussex County NJ ( Vernon) and I would say we only have about 8-9 inches. I think I am just about 10-15 miles too far west for the really heavy snow. NorthShoreWx
Wind is so strong, this is the worst storm since '96 in my mind. INSANE outside, im super excited its hard to describe. lol This wind is much stronger than 96.

jm1220
The pivot back east has clearly begun for us on Long Island. It's very slow and slight at this point, but expect mod-heavy snow and obviously severe blowing snow for many hours to come. Models don't really end it for Nassau/Suffolk counties until 7am or later. Some of us could still make it to the 20" mark.

HarveyLeonardFan
Looks like we'll have the heavy stuiff through 2 -3 or 4 am If someone could grab a weathetap wide loop - those are the best This radar is absolutely pitiful. I'm in SE Rhode Island and it's been raining for hours and you'd never know it by looking at this radar.
dwang0725
Based on that radar I guess 17 inches in mahwah is possible. Heavy band is 10 miles west of me And the fact that Mahwah is elevated a bit higher than Nanuet could also attribute to the higher totals. Like I said earlier, It's just about impossible to measure. I think 12 is the right number.
Animal
Going on 5 hours now of blizzard conditions here in Edison. Surreal outside. it has been outanding. the main snow band has not moved in hours from this area. We may push 24 inches if we get lucky. YoRyz
I know. We really can't top this the rest of the winter We were saying that last year after 12/19...then we saw 2/6 & 2/10. I wasn't in the jackpot area for any of the 3, but each event was better than the one before.

NorthShoreWx
I don't know if anyone else has been melting it, but my ratios have been close to 10:1 I haven't, but my observations from shoveling (I know, pointless, but it beat looking at that awesome band 60 miles west of here) are that we are not getting good ratios out here. Might be changing now as the temp has plummeted. We had an hour of mainly graupel earlier this evening.
