ARyan
Crazy out there. Sustained winds have to be about 30mph with gusts easily exceeding 40mph. Blowing so hard it feels like it's not snowing at all. 10" so far.

famartin

Another inch!! Holy crap! With ratios, that's a lot more I don't know if anyone else has been melting it, but my ratios have been close to 10:
billgwx
Coastal front FTW. Nah, probably more like an inverted trough extending NW of the surface low. The true coastal front has been just east of Montauk up into SE Mass since this morning, and may make a brief westward run into the south fork of Long Island shortly. Bluescat1
I don't know if anyone else has been melting it, but my ratios have been close to 10:1 It's either bare ground or drifts near my house. Wannabehippie
I am finding it nearly impossible to find places that aren't drifts to get measurements. How the heck are the pros doing it in this type of weather/winds? It's either bare ground or drifts near my house. I have been under a heavy band for hours. Near blizzard conditions. lindywx
Congratulations to all of you that have been in The Mega Band. Your totals as of 10 pm have probably doubled those of us in Western Suffolk. We've been in and out of 1-2" per hour rates but nothing sustained for very long at that rate. On the other hand the wind here has probably surpassed the winds I experienced in the Feb 78 blizzard. Still an incredible storm and when all is said and down will go down as a Top 5 storm for many. yhbrooklyn
Took a jebwalk for 15 minutes. It's awesome out there. If I had to guesstimate, I'd saw about a foot has fallen. Some of the drifts are insane. Snow was up to my shins in many spots, not just drifts. I couldn't open my front door, so I went around the side to clear it off. Pic coming soon. YoRyz
Nicer band setting up toward the Philly area now. Good for them. Just north of Philadelphia, I'm at ~7"...hoping to see 10-12" as a final total. That heavy band of NJ stayed 20 miles east of me for hours. What an amazing setup for the interior of New Jersey. gkrangers
Steve D reporting that another 500 MB low is forming over the surface low, and actually drifting west. Thus he states, "Here comes the stall." The 500MB low looks to be centered a bit southeast of NYC now. So we should be vertically stacked, and the storm should slowly move away and snow itself out overnight and into the early morning...
