Lights on the building 3 n-s city blocks away from me (0.3 mi) are winking in and out of view as waves of snow cascade down from the sky. Meanwhile, the whole city is lit with the pinkish orange glow of sodium vapor lights diffused by the falling snow, and every so often blue flashes of lightning break the glow. Oh yeah, and winds are easily gusting to 40. This is freaking wild.

Wow, look at this projected gradient. I can attest to the accuracy of it too.

I'm on the eastern side of I-287 in Morris County (north Jersey), just north of I-80. This map puts me squarely in 14 inch territory...but with the current band that is right above me, shouldn't I be getting more? I already have almost a foot of snow on the ground. The gradient may be tight, but it may be further west.
