jm1220
Band is pivoting right over us :D This is all going to pivot back over us at some point too on its way out. I'd say lock in at least another 6-10 inches on top of what's already fallen for us.
earthlight
More flashes. Holy crap.
gkrangers
Thunder snow again. Four times today. I can't even comprehend what is going on outside right now. Only thing I'm missing. Haven't seen/heard it yet. Otherwise, pounding continues as the whole area is getting enveloped by banding now.

Radders
Getting absolutely crushed here in Dutchess County, on the northern side of the mega band.. No thunder/lightning yet, but just epic snowfall rates.. Closing in on 11 inches of powder - 3 inches in the last hour
jwilson
I think I'm done reading this thread. It is depressing haha. Back to wallowing with the other Pennsylvanians! Enjoy the rest of you!
jm1220
I can't imagine the massive blizzards like 1978 were any worse than what's occurring outside my window right now. I guess I'm officially "snowed in" as well, drifts making it almost impossible to open my front door.
SACRUS
If someone can post the wide weathertap radar for the storm
A-L-E-X
Strongly agree. This is the best storm I have ever experienced and it's becoming a landslide. This is our storm of the century (and its only 10 years into the new century lol).
famartin
Ray you are on the wrong side of the tracks. http://www.wundergro...ls=1&rainsnow=0 So I noticed. That's damn frustrating to see it SO close. Mind going outside and giving a good swift kick toward the west for me?
blizzardof09
i got about 9-10 inches right now in southwest suffolk. looks like we'll make it to the 20" inches here when that band from nyc gets to us

jm1220
I think I'm done reading this thread. It is depressing haha. Back to wallowing with the other Pennsylvanians! Enjoy the rest of you! I feel for you guys. These kind of storms very frequently underperform out your way. Hopefully later on in the winter you guys cash in on some of the lake cutter events that we get rained on for. Definitely not envying my time in State College, PA for this event, either!!
NorthShoreWx
Glad to see both KEWR and KJFK have already verified blizzard conditions, along with (I'm simply assuming) most of Long Island. Not so sure about that on LI. The precip has been too inconsistent. Basically a whiteout heare at the moment, but most of the last couple of hours have been over 1/4 mile and most of the restrriction was due to blowing snow. If we can keep the current band going, this storm will redeem itself here, but I keep seeing it get squeezed to the west. The effect on radar looks something like when you constrict a balloon in the middle with one hand and then squeeze an end with the other hand. One side deflates and the other side inflates. I keep seeing these decent bands here fizzle as yet another fires up over NYC and then merges into the band that is clobbering Jersey. I'm not complaining (much) ...we've got lots of time yet, but I really wanted ground zero for this one and that is clearly not going to happen. Been a long time since that has happened here and this one looked like it had all the ingredients.
tmagan
I just had another strike of lighting and loud thunder! 3rd time so far. This storm is insane. USPLN network indicating 8 strikes over southern Manhattan during the last 30 minutes. One can argue that while this will not be Manhattan's highest snowfall ever, it will be its most intense snowstorm ever.
Kingwill
Morristown, Bridgewater and West Milford just getting absolutely destroyed. Yup Im about 10 min from Bwater and we are in one of those heavy 2" inch per Hr bands..

Our band doesnt look as impressive as the one in NJ but damn it if Ive ever seen it snow as hard as this before lol.... I dont think I have. And the winds are otherworldly lol. Bluescat1
So I noticed. That's damn frustrating to see it SO close. Mind going outside and giving a good swift kick toward the west for me? The bands were stuck at Hightstown for the longest time, I think they are piviting in your direction.
jm1220
Our band doesnt look as impressive as the one in NJ but damn it if Ive ever seen it snow as hard as this before lol.... I dont think I have. And the winds are otherworldly lol. This might be the beginning of the snow beginning to pivot back east or stall, since this batch isn't heading into NYC and NJ like the others have so far. It looks like it's backbuilding over us and intensifying. At best, this could be like last 12/19 where the main band formed over us but then pivoted over Suffolk County and demolished them for hours. And unlike that one, this storm is barely crawling out of here!! More than likely it just snows itself out like 2/25 did.

weathermd
I know this is an ob but may backdoor has a drift higher then my 80 black lab let him out and he had to jump over it, ended up with 3 inches in the kitchen absolute whiteout wayne nj
earthlight
Can't ever remember these types of snow rates for this long with these winds...this is unreal. Winds gusting into the 30's and 40's the past four hours.

WebBreaker63
The wind is a MAJOR factor this go around, we had a couple of Blizzard warnings last year that did not pan out, snow yes - wind no - now we have snow and wind - Wind is howling here in Toms River - snow bands filling in big time
