In EXTREME Eastern PA near Washington's Crossing and we are getting absolutely smoked! Close to 8" just measured, heavy band sitting just East about 7 miles but feeling the effects here. Wind blowing as hard as it's been all day. Amazing system!

Umm... sure you aren't measuring in a drift? I'm just down river from you in Ewing and as of NOW (8PM) I only have 5.7".

AVIATION /01Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/

A MAJOR WINTER STORM WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE TERMINALS TONIGHT

THROUGH MONDAY WITH HEAVY SNOW AND HIGH WINDS.

SEVERAL MESOSCALE BANDS ACROSS THE AREA WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE MODERATE

TO HEAVY SNOW WELL INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. LARGE BAND OF HEAVY

SNOW EXTENDING FROM THE HUDSON VALLEY THROUGH SOUTHERN NJ WILL

REMAIN IN THIS VCNTY FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS...THEN SLOWLY MOVE

BACK TO THE EAST AS THE CENTER OF THE LOW TRACKS TOWARDS CAPE COD.

TIMING OF THE SNOW ENDING AND CONDITIONS IMPROVING COULD BE A 1-2 HOURS

EARLIER THAN FORECASTED IN 00Z TAFS. WILL NEED TO MONITOR THE

PROGRESSION OF THE BANDS BACK TO THE EAST. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF

1-2 INCHES PER HOUR WILL CONTINUE IN THE BANDS AND COULD BE AS

HIGH AS 3 INCHES AN HOUR IN THE INTENSE BAND OVER NJ.

VERY STRONG N WINDS WILL GRADUALLY BECOME NW AND SLOWLY DECREASE ON

MON AS THE STORM CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN BUT MOVES AWAY. WINDS

OVERNIGHT COULD BE SLIGHTLY ON THE STRONG SIDE BETWEEN 06 AND 12Z

OUTSIDE OF NYC TERMINALS. ALSO HAVE REMOVED LLWS FROM THE TAFS

SINCE SFC WINDS ARE SO STRONG. WINDS BETWEEN 1-2K FT WILL STILL BE

BETWEEN 45 AND 60 KT THROUGH THE NIGHT...BUT MECHANICAL TURBULENCE

WOULD BE THE RESULT OF THIS.

ONLY OTHER THING TO NOTE...WHICH THE MODEL SOUNDINGS ARE NOT

INDICATING IS MIXING ON LI AND COASTAL CT. PERIODS OF ICE PELLETS

MIXING IN WITH THE SNOW ARE ALSO EXPECTED OVERNIGHT AT

KISP/KBDR/KGON. DON'T THINK THE WARMER AIR ALOFT WILL MAKE IT TO

NYC...BUT NOT COMPLETELY OUT OF THE REALM OF POSSIBILITIES.

Yeah, it's incredible here. As I posted above 3.1" measured since 7:00pm. The rate of the snow is probably the heaviest ive seen. The Feb 2006 deformation band was close--but this one beats it right now. We're going on 3 hours of blizzard conditions.

Glad to see both KEWR and KJFK have already verified blizzard conditions, along with (I'm simply assuming) most of Long Island.

hey earthlight is it me or does it look like a deformation band is trying to form over central long island too?
