A-L-E-X
NYC 20.6 inches, 10 months after the last one Staten Island - Brooklyn 25 inches-- so they got in on that big band. And like I said earlier, if that band in NJ had been a bit east, NYC would have easily had their first 30 inch snow storm! How much did EWR have? To be honest, I don't know. I was in New Brunswick for all 3 storms last year, and our highest total there (I think it was the mid-Feb storm? I'm terrible with this stuff) was 19". So this definitely wins.
RU848789
Just did one more round of shoveling, although it's still pouring snow out there, so I'm sure I'll have to do one more round in the morning. As of 1:00 am we have an average of about 20" on the ground in my backyard (range of about 16-24"); some of the drifts in the front yard are nearing 4 feet! We've sustained about 2" per hour from about 4 pm to 1 am (9 hours!), which is simply incredible. Radar still looks like we have a few more hours to go, so maybe we can make it to 24". Would love to be skiing in this gorgeous fluffy powder (just got a cast off a broken thumb, so no chance of that, lol). Have seen reports of 21-22" elsewhere, but we're obviously pretty close to the jackpot, which is unusual for Middlesex County. Visibility still less than 1/8 of a mile (and occasionally near zero during the big wind gusts - probably gusting to 40 mph at times). What an incredible, incredible storm. Snowed heavily through about 3 am and was snowing lightly around 4 am when I went to bed, so we got another 3-4" of fresh snow (by eyeball). Went out this morning around 8:30 am to shovel for the 5th time this storm (much easier that way, IMO - hardest part was the usual having to shovel all the heavy snow the plows pushed back into the end of my driveway). Measured about 4" of what looked to be new snow on my car and on my deck table (both of which I had cleared at 1 am) and a bit more in the driveway, but I think that included some blowing snow (a low point, since it had been shoveled). So, I'm going to be a little conservative and say we had 3 more inches on top of the 20" I measured at 1 am, for a 23" total. I'm sure some compaction occurred, since I had measured an average of about 20" at 1 am and only measured an average of 21-22" this morning. 23" seems like a decent compromise and looks pretty consistent with totals around me (seen 21-25" reported in the immediate Edison/Metuchen area). What a freakin' storm.
Fantom X
what's amazing about this storm is that you can find multiple reporting stations that reported the 3+ consecutive hours of true blizzard conditions. Usually, it's hard to try and find one station.
ag3
Wow! What a crazy scene out there! Happy that NYC reported 20" officially. ag3
Staten Island had 30"? I thought they had 25" like SW Brooklyn did. There is a 29" and a 28" report in the NWS report from Staten Island. I said I got 16.5" but honestly I could be near 20" out there. The roads are buried and are the worst I have seen them since 1996. Every single side street has abandoned cars and plows can't get thru! This is what a true snowstorm is! Last years storms were warm. This storm had 23-25 degrees and snow stuck on highways the same as side streets.

doncat
Staten Island had 30"? I thought they had 25" like SW Brooklyn did. We go thru this with bogus reports ever winter. The person who reports from Great Kills on Staten Island always has inflated totals... must be a plow operator. The NWS even removed his reports last winter. I measured 20 in. and a trained spotter here had similar totals. Its possible someone had a total up to 25 in but not 30.
