KEITH L.I
the worst it has been all day here in Western Suffolk..pretty unreal outside..heavy snow and winds gusting over 55..I would care to say there is close to a foot.
Isotherm
This band does not want to let up! If these rates keep up for at least a couple more hours we'll probably eclipse the 24" mark.
A-L-E-X
Have you measured recently? I measured close to 12" a little while ago. on ABC they were showing an area of 2" / hr rates from eastern NJ extending to western LI and they said we should be in that band through 4 AM! A-L-E-X
has to be more- I shoveled a solid 4" at 430 and came home and shoveled at least 12" maybe more Its hard to measure because of these howling winds. I can tell you one thing though-- this is more snow than we have gotten in any of the storms last season! Easily! With many more inches to go lol

Dsnowx53
Ace, you might be right. I haven't done the "snowboard" method, but perhaps if I did, I would have gotten more. I measured about a foot in my side yard 20 minutes ago, so we've probably just passed a foot by the old fashioned measuring technique. You and ALEX probably should be a tad ahead of me since you guys are 5 miles west of me.
A-L-E-X
JFX LGA and EWR will still be open before Heathrow Heathrow and Paris shut down with 4-5 inches of snow..... that's kind of funny. We dont even get a snow day with that much snow
NorthNJwx
I'm amazed at this band that continues to move W through my area...when the earlier band started to shift E, I never expected another! Winds picking up here again after an odd lull of a couple hours. Snow continues heavily with probably close to 18" on the ground...will measure at midnight. mikemost
Verona, NJ - I took measurements in the park. On average, about 14.5" - 2-4' drifts. The wind is unbearable... It's incredibly difficult simply trying to walk no more then a few hundred yards decked out in winter gear! Mesoscale banding enveloping the area for a solid 5 hours already... How long will it last? Sampson
anyone think nyc (central park) tops 20.9"(2/26/10 total) I didn't think it would happen earlier but I'm starting to have second thoughts. there's probably about 16" right now. Most models said there would be a bullseye over NYC . I 'don't know why some TV mets didn't show a bulleye over NYC. CAT5ANDREW
I am 44 years old.I remember all of the great blizzards FEB 1978,FEB 1983,JAN 1996,JAN 2005,FEB 2006 and the retrosnowcane of FEB 2010.I can honestly say with no exception that the conditions I experienced up until I came in 15 minutes ago were the most intense I have ever experienced.Whiteout conditions with winds of over 60MPH were just brutal.I have not seen drifting or piling like this since the JAN 1996 storm. This is a true blizzard. It was dangerous to walk far from home tonight.Others may and will disagree with me.thats OK.I cant speak for anyone else but me.This storm is a TRUE White Hurricane. monmouthcounty11
I honestly believe there will be amounts as high as 28-30 inches and maybe even more in Monmouth County, this band is just dumping more and more snow onto a ton of snow. It is still snowing heavily and very windy in Lincroft, NJ.
