WeatherFox
Don't fret. The NYC snow totals will surely come up to nice figures when it is all said and done.
LocoAko
Just went outside. Unreal out there. I'm still pretty much in shock at how big some of these drifts are and how crazy it is outside. Got a rough estimate of 16" here in Jersey City now. Heavy band settling in over the area once again...
Wxnyc
Just saw JFK suddenly reporting 10 inches but the wind report is 40 with gusts to 56 mph
tmagan
PK WND 34067 means a peak gust of 67 knots from 340 degrees. Now, the newest observation is PK WND 17087, so clearly, the PK WND readings from KTEB are hosed. You are right.

Definitely not. The TEB ASOS "ice free" wind sensor is experiencing problems as have been POU and MGJ...apparently they're not blizzard free. Terpeast
Won't be surprised to see plenty of 30"+ totals around NYC when it's done.
Dark Star
i measured 16" in Garwood NJ at 9:30 PM. Saw some great storms in this area, but I can't remember the snow intensity as great as this one.

Peak gusts have probably been near 50mph, but as you pointed out, it looks like something is wrong with the ASOS there.
Zelocita Weather
Definitely not. The TEB ASOS "ice free" wind sensor is experiencing problems as have been POU and MGJ...apparently they're not blizzard free. 18" with light/moderate snow falling. It is going to be close if that new mega-band that just crossed the Hudson can make it back to W Essex/Middlesex/Union...
BrooklynSnow
More Thundersnow in midtown west. I think I've seen at least 6 bolts or more. I do not remember seeing this much lightening with a snow storm!
jamesny
Shoveling is gonna be a **** tomorrow. The streets are in terrible condition. This is the price I pay for living in an area where all the roads are small and secondary.
gkrangers
More Thundersnow in midtown west. I think I've seen at least 6 bolts or more. I do not remember seeing this much lightening with a snow storm! Seems like a LOT of thundersnow in NYC with this one. We've had serious banding down here in Monmouth County too, numerous times today, but no thunder yet from what I can tell. Is there any particular reason why it seems to be concentrated around NYC? Manny
Oh my Goodnesssss. Just walked through Central Park from the East Side to Riverside Drive on the West side-86th to 157th. Incredible, and I have so much film along with it. Heavy/Blizzard Conditions out there. Best Storm Ever!!!!
Dsnowx53
Over a foot for you already, JM? Have you measured recently? I measured close to 12" a little while ago.
tmagan
Definitely not. The TEB ASOS "ice free" wind sensor is experiencing problems as have been POU and MGJ...apparently they're not blizzard free. KMGJ just reported a wind gust to 180 mph. So I guess we can name this storm 'Blizzard Andrew'.
monmouthcounty11
The snow drifts here are truly unbelievable and the amount of snow as well and it is coming down at one the hardest clips it has in this latest band. Totals are tough to come by, but an average accumulation I got just recently was ~20-21 inches. Location: Lincroft, NJ (Monmouth County) Accumulation: 20-21 inches (perhaps even higher than that) Currently: 23 degrees and heavy snow
Wxnyc
I don't know why manhatten had 4-5 episodes of thundersnow while here in Brooklyn 7 miles to the south I didn't even see one lightning flash
DCWeatherGuy
More Thundersnow in midtown west. I think I've seen at least 6 bolts or more. I do not remember seeing this much lightening with a snow storm! What kind of measurements are people getting in Westchester Co? I'm holed up at my in-laws house (in Bedford) and while I haven't ventured out into the thick of this thing yet, doing a measurement by the front door, I'm getting WAY less than everyone else seems to be in and around NYC. I suspect the front door area is just a crappy place to take measurements (wind exposed, etc).

Isotherm
This band is absolutely friggen amazing. Just sitting in 35+dbz echos here in Monmouth County. Back porch looks like a scene from Vermont, incredible. Drifts up to the kitchen window, which is about 4-5 feet above the porch.
