jm1220
Good, we're in accord lol. Now let's wait for JM. It's very hard for me to measure accurately since the wind is so strong and it's hard for me to find a sheltered enough spot. I got an average of about 9" a half hour ago, so I would assume we're up to 9.5" or so now. The snow rates are crazy now though and at this rate we'll be at a foot by 10pm. NorthShoreWx
Ed, there's more bands coming in off the ocean. Been that way all the way through...they seem to want to consolidate...but it never happens, they keep getting sucked west, We just had an hour of Styrofoam (graupel). Its snowing a little better right now, but its been too inconsistent. I measured 5.5" at 6:40PM. Probabably between 6" and 7" now. The wind is performing however. I took a walk around the cul-de-sac, heard a large crack in a gust of wind and turned around in time to see a large limb falling out of my neighbors tree. Power has flickered a couple of times too. Drz1111
And again. Query: if it's lightning, thunder, and gusting to 60, is it a severe storm if it is snowing?

tmagan
And again. Query: if it's lightning, thunder, and gusting to 60, is it a severe storm if it is snowing? No, because the storm didn't cause that. It was more directly the pressure gradient.

eduggs
Western Putnam County: 18.9F, mod snow, 1/4 vis or less. Barely pushing 2" at 5pm, now could be over 10" - impossible to tell! 1-2 foot drifts on normally well traveled side roads. Cars stuck and stranded. Winds gusty but not unusual. Wonderful storm up here in the hudson valley!

Heavy snow continues with near whiteout conditions.

cjr231
Have to be very happy with my location in Staten Island for this storm so far. Got into the really good NJ band for the majority of it and now in the intense NYC band. Hasn't let up at all for the past 4-5 hours. Not even going to attempt to measure or give an amount but it has to be impressive.

monmouthcounty11
There is a ton of snow here and it continues to just wallop down, I tried to measure and the low amount 14 and the high 21 among areas that weren't clearly snow drifts and many amounts in between. I suppose we'll go with ~17 inches but impossible to get an accurate measurement. Location: Lincroft, NJ (Monmouth County) Accumulation: 17 inches (14-21) Currently: 24 and Heavy Snow
Ridingtime
Don't ask me why, but I tried to drive somewhere and after only barely getting up my block I got stuck by a busy intersection. I get out of my car and the wind is blowing heavy heavy snow everywhere. I look at a guy who came to see if I needed help and we then both stared at the intersection which we couldn't see across. "Unbelievable," he said to me. "Yup, never seen anything like it. Pure Blizzard," I responded. With that I gave up going anywhere, looked at the scene in awe, and then had some other guys help me back my car up to the spot it was in before. What a night!
