As far as the RUC goes, I remember using it a lot to hold on hope for the heavy snows to get back to me in PA last year. Unfortunately it never came to fruition as depicted. :( But the RUC can be good sometimes.

And still falling

Unless you want a letdown I'd suggest you stop looking at the RUC. If it keeps going way too far west why even bother looking at it?

I dunno, it seems to be taking its merry sweet time coming up here. Not only that but that SW->NE axis is atrocious.

That orientation has been expected at this point. This system is unsual in that for N&W locales this shield is expected to more so back in from SE to NW which is different from the general progress we see of SW to NE. Later the orientation may become closer to south to north. Obviously the futher N&W you are the later it will get to you till you are so far N&W it never makes it. It is possible far N&W areas up into NE PA far NW NJ etc may have to wait till 3-5PM. Either way the best snows are not expect till late afternoon and into tonight early tomorrow morning. Further S&E will get into it much earlier, infact some areas are already getting into some light to moderate stuff. They will likely hold onto it longer plus get it heavier. The RUC is a definite outlier right now with its push of heavy band so far west.

It is kind of like Hurricane Schwartz was saying last night...you can never understimate the higher spots like here N and W of the big cities....that said - I don't think this will make that large of an impact probably a little better ratios/fluff factor but I am not optimistic that too much gets this far (27 mi NW of PHL) with this but....heck if you would have told me we could get a few inches of snow 48 hours ago I would have been shocked. So I guess we need to watch the radars and trends.

Paul

Paul (or anyone),

Does model qpf take in account any upsloping? I know we don't live in the Rockies, but a lot of times you hear about the "fall line" north west of Philly. No doubt we see less precip than areas east. I'm just wondering if our elevation will help to squeeze out a few additional flakes.

Some people storm the grocery store before big snowstorms, I prefer to storm the liquor storelaugh.gif .

Light snow here in Holmdel with tiny flakes already coating everything nicely. It is relieving to start right away with no virga

I was at the grocery store at 8:00 A.M., fairly crowded.

as i figured- there are SERIOUS discussions to POSTPONE the Eagles/Minny game tonight.

Oh I hope not! That would be terrible! Maybe the league should legislate all teams into domed stadiums! Give me a break!

On less off topic, the water vapor loop shows the due north movement of the dryslot and I think that should shove the deform band a little further west.

I'd figure this morning it would be insane given that most stores were closed yesterday.
