Isopycnic
I'll never predict 6" or more in southern Cleveland County again. It can be done safely for other counties, but not here. Just too many weird things keep happening . I can understand the Summer phenomenon fine but can't explain its Winter cousin. Anyway, I'd guess you and I could get a couple more inches if we're lucky. I'm right at 1" still. The last band was heavy but didnt' last. Probably way OT but.... are ther any new lakes or new large clearcuts near/ in your area? markemark
Took a break for family stuff. Snowing moderately in Taylors, SC and 34f. Nice banding on the radar!
DopplerWx
Really getting worried about the temps here still sitting at 37 degrees Rockingham,nc Dont stress over it...you werent supposed to get snow before midnight anyways. Temps will crash as the low strengthens.
kvegas-wx
Wow, just now checking in and startled to see that it is snowing where it likes to snow, and no go in other areas more flake challenged. I thought we all would win on this one. I made it to Washington, NC with little trouble. Nothing at all here. And I just cant see how we make out with more than a few wet flakes tonight but we'll see. Going to need some serious cold air infusion. We're stuck at 41-42. Hey WeatherHeels, what do have back in Kvegas??

JQPublic
I'm not sure how you can get youtube videos to display... I've been trying to use the media tag but it never seems to work out correctly. Moderate to Heavy Snow with large Flakes Continues... over 2" now... Temp: 32.4 degrees Like this? I see what my problem was... every time I copied the link over... the site recognized it as a url... and it put the url tag within the youtube tag, which keeps it from showing a thumbnail. Cold Rain
Stuff is moving north from the southern coastal plain. Should get there in an hour or so. Strange that the coastal plain has been empty. Yeah, all of a sudden, I look at the loop and it does seem to be coming in at a more northerly trajectory, and it seems to be filling in on the western side. I want to see at least one snowflake before Christmas is over. There's still time....
WidreMann
WRAL reporting 2 inches already in northern Wake County. And yet we've been under a moderate band for an hour and still don't have more than 1/2" to 2/3" out there. It just can't accumulate. And it accumulates fine everywhere but here. I don't get it. NCSNOW
I hate to see the dry slought coming, but folks that batch pvoting north bound from wilmington back to columbia to Augusta is coming on a almost due north trajectory and will be Major League 11/2-2 inch per hour rates when it gets up here in NC about midnight. Storm is getting ready to really ramp up.
Lookout
Nice quarter sized flakes coming down now got about an inch on the ground but nothing on the street or driveway. It sucks it waits until it is just about over for here for now but I have those huge half dollar size flakes coming down right now. Absolutely stunning. All and all I have probably picked up around 2 inches. Problem is the ground was so wet here, combined with already warm ground temps, there are a lot of areas that haven't accumulated well and it's mainly on grassy surfaces. I have one more good band to go and then I will have to wait until tomorrow to see if I can pick up anymore. Considering the totals elsewhere and the fact I was the dead last person in north Georgia to see a turnover, I can't complain I suppose. But man I can't help but be annoyed that I picked up 0.30 inches of rain..which could have been snow if it wasn't so damn hard to get low level cold in here sometimes. RaleighWx
Well we had a about 30 minutes of snow around 6:30 or 7 and then bascially have had nothing the last 3 hours here in NE Raleigh. However not far from here in western and northern sections of the county they have 1-2. Mesocale bands can suck sometimes. With that said the heavy stuff in SC should move into central/eastern NC in the next few hours and be enhanced later by the bombing low. There could be some serious snow in this band but at this time all you need are subtle trends are placements of bands and you are either hosed or strike it lucky. Yea kind of the same problem here...but I have been surprised based on radar returns, seems about Robert west has been just getting the best of it so far for having the late start. Hopefully it continues a little longer then expected but I kind of have my doubts. Just wish these rates could over take the warm streets.

ze501
widremann I think we read wral's map wrong they meant 3/6" inches of snow not 3-6 inches.. lol so they would be right on... there i fixed it...
wakeforest22890
Looks like the central parts of NC will benefit from the NW trajectory with the Triad looking pretty good based on the latest models from what I can tell.
Solak
I'll take this over today's nothingness... totally frustrated tonight. New Year's Day: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

WeatherExperiment
Flakes are still coming down here near the Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport, but only a dusting so far. That dry split is really taking its toll on any additional accumulation. Hoping that as the storm winds up again, we'll see more steady snow and get in on some of that deformation band action! phil882
Looks like Greenville SC is getting lit up right now!! It still is coming down pretty good... but not quite as heavily as before. There are still a few huge flakes mixed in, and it appears another strong band is stringing in. Accumulation wise, I am approaching 2.5". Temp: 32.4 degrees... this pretty much hasn't budged since 8pm tonight.
