phil882
Man those echoes are really looking good for the next hour or so here... and then places further northeast... maybe pick up a quick inch in the next couple of hours before the end. wncsnow
Still snowing pretty good here Dan... and the Radar just doesnt seem to want to bring the back edge over us, if some of that heavier precip over the upstate can creep up this way... maybe a foot in places? HWY316wx
Acworth, GA has 4". Say they would have been more if the front end snow had not melted. No doubt the NW side did well in this one.
strongwxnc
Yes Brandon, thanks man!!! I will be right on the edge South of Dan. Thanks for the animation...looks like I'm right on the edge. Btw, I want to toast to all the SE folks. Those I have known for years and those I have not. This Fourth Beer is a toast to a great LONG ass week on tracking this SOB!!! NCBlizzard
naturally , since I just downgraded my forecast expectations on this storm for our area. Whats your total? approximately 1"
FoothillsNC
Man those echoes are really looking good for the next hour or so here... and then places further northeast... maybe pick up a quick inch in the next couple of hours before the end. Would love to see some of those yellows up here. I've already had a couple bursts of very heavy snow, without those returns. Looks like the deformation bands are about to pivot somewhere around here. May squeak out some good totals after all .

CaryWx
superjames, that 1011 and the 1004. Where will they meet?...or will the 1011 transform its energy to the 1004 for deepening off the coast?
strongwxnc
You are correct. Heavy banding coming in Would love to see some of those yellows up here. I'm feeling really good about this. Also my temp is right at 32.

UNCCmetgrad
What are your thoughts? It's coming down great here in south CLT...hard to believe if this last into the morning we would get less than 4. Looks like some really good banding going on south and southeast of GSP right now. Those should head up our way in the next hour or two with possibly some 0.75 - 1.00 inch rates. The back side of the precip is still inching eastward so I think 3-4 inches still looks good. However if the backside stalls for awhile and you get caught under one of those bands then accumulations up to 6 is possible.
jburns
here's how i see the deformation band setting up. this is based off of the 00z nam. Oh that works very nicely for me. Hope you're correct.
wx n of atl
finshed with 1.5 inches of snow. and it never hit freezing.
WidreMann
Still light end of moderate here. Flakes are bigger. Having a real tough time getting to 32 and also getting accumulation past a half inch. This seems to be a common problem this year. Just gets to a half inch and even though it's still snowing, it doesn't make much progress past that. Strange.
Gastonwxman
Love the banding that's getting ready to train over my area: http://radar.weather...ct=N0R&loop=yes Anyway, down to 31° with 2 inches on the ground and piling with moderate to occasionally heavy snowfall

Where will they meet?...or will the 1011 transform its energy to the 1004 for deepening off the coast? I think it's going to transfer its energy to the coastal low. CLTWolf
FINALLY started snowing pretty hard here in SE Cabarrus. Hoping that deformation band adds some juice.
Solak
Cloudy, calm at 10:10 PM. Whatever happens, looking at radar, is not going to happen on Christmas night. Our overnight accumulation has been lowered to 1-2" after "rain before 1:00AM" --- and we can't even get the rain to fall.

burgertime
You got a total yet? Haven't measured ye but probably around a half an inch to an inch. The ground was almost totally white outside when I went out around 20 minutes ago. It really picked up in the last 30 minutes or so.
burrel2
Robert, you are going to get raked over the next 3 or 4 hours. I think you'll wind up with 4 to 6 inches. I'm satisified at this point with my mod/heavy snow and it was enough to get everything solid white!
jburns
Mod to Hvy Snow - not really showing well on radar. Radar sucks in my area. ON the fringe of GSP, RAL and FCX. Works out OK in the summer with high topped storms but in the winter the beams are to high by the time they reach my area to show the lower level snow clouds and precip. BIG FROSTY
Looks like I'm a little to far north from where the banding may set up, According to HKY map it passes just slightly south of me.
