sounds like a lot of us finally cashed in :bike:

fwiw, i cant guarantee it, but i am pretty sure mby has seen the equivalent of about an 8" snowfall or so. there was heavy snow for several hours (accumulated a little due to the rate) before the temp went below freezing. as soon as it did, it accumulated quickly to about 4 - 4.5" and compacted some before i went to bed last night. the last measurement to just under 4"

this morning there is a solid 4.5-5" on the ground. so adding it all up makes for a lot of snow :rambo: robert's (and the nws out of gsp with 6-12) did well with this storm. of course our foothills was way earlier that the nws

Would that be reasonably accurate for me? Hahaha, haven't been outside yet because the whole house (LOTS of relatives) is asleep.

What do you think as far as this being the end of the snow? Is there more trying to backbuild and come get us?

It looks like it is. I suspect we will continue to see snow falling much of the day but of course lighter as we head toward noon. Maybe another inch or two? Looks like north and east of here could get quite a bit more,

Do you have a total? We are pushing 9 up towards Weaverville. Gsp is calling for 2-5 more for us today thru tonight.

I was at 9. My snowboard definitely has a few tenths added to it since then. I may end up with a foot yet.

I hate watching the news and watching the reporter put a ruler into snow on pavement and say there is 5 inches. Ray's weather also had Aville at 9 inches. The airport was at 6.5 inches at midnight.

I think today is going to overperform with high ratios.

I doubt the interstates are in better shape than last night... snow has been falling since 2-3am and we have picked up another 1.5" since the 3" I recorded last night. Roads are getting worse... not better here.

I just had to clear the know of the thermometer and its dropping properly now... GSP is at 29 degrees currently.

Phil - What part of Greenville are you stay in? Still only have about an inch to and inch and a half close to downtown on the deck. Dusting on hard surfaces.

Close on 4" here in the Bull City and it's still flurrying down. This is the really sticky stuff so it's all over the trees and postcard-pretty outside.

This is better than finding a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun (with a compass in the stock) behind the Christmas tree!

So in the end, did this storm really end up panning out the way the Euro thought it would several days out, before it broke all our hearts?

Congrats! It wouldn't suprise me to see us with 12. The only thing that worries me today is the wind. Dont' want to deal with multi day power loss like last Dec. Was out yest. afternoon & secondary roads are a crapshoot. Some are fine, some are ok, and some are really bad.

GREAT news Robert!! Cashed in.

Just went out to pull some large limbs off the Chicken cage :)

Got 5" where I measured but more like 6 - 6 1/2" in the yard due to the little wind we had last night.

Roads are covered. Sitting at 28 and do not think I will make it to GSP forecast of 34!

You cashed in Mark!

You can see how things started all over again this morning

Snow gradually getting lighter here. Temp: 29.1 degrees.

thanks for posting this Phil. I was wondering how things looked during the night and when it began again. Models nailed this redevelopment here this morning.

thanks NeGA ! I did ok for some areas of the forecast, the worst forecast was my back yard. I just can't do worth a darn in the several counties around me, things always pop up but glad it worked out in Your area up to the Mountains and western foothills of NC. I'd say I probably had 7" of snow if the melting wasn't an issue so early on and considering how much compaction /melting overnight, but just took measurements and I've officially got 4" now on the ground. And had 1" at 10:30 last night (not sure what it was at midnight). Still snowing very hard, large flakes!
