Wilmington, NC (uncw area)...Finally...

It's been broken overcast here since 6am....with swift-moving clouds from NNE. But as I stood outside checking on the now solid overcast and light sprinkle...........I suddenly 'heard" the changeover. Yea, it went from silence to the sound of sleet hitting the surface.

7:26 am light rain.

7:27 am light sleet

7:28 am light snow

Snow line needs just 5 more miles to reach Wrightsville Beach.

About a half inch here in St Matthews, SC (25 miles SE of CAE) on the grassy surfaces. Switched from Rain to Snow around 3am. Moderate to Heavy Snow from 4-5am when the accumulation really started before the precip lightened shortly after. Still have flurries and 34 degrees. Congrats to everyone who got snow!

Nice !!

The waiting game was killing you last night man! Glad you are cashing in this morning!!!!

Still snowing here, around 4 inches on the ground probably 2 on the street.

Still light snow here as the radar continues to pivot over this area. Everything has snow attached to it. Awesome!

Congrats on your 2"! We probably had close to an inch down here but the ground was just so wet from all the rain before the change over that the snow had a hard time accumulating. Hopefully that snow to our NW will make its way down here!

just took several measurements around the neighborhood. a good 4-5" of snow is on the ground :snowman:

I'm thrilled this morning. I fell asleep last night at around midnight, woke up around 4 and a lot of melting had taken place from the warm wet ground and Oddly the temp had risen to 33 and it was even melting from the trees. For some reason the temp had actually risen to 33 and I maybe had an inch left on the ground. How the temp rose between midnight and 4 I will never know since there was strong caa overhead at least (the wind was calm).

But I Checked the radar and and sure enough snow was reforming just like we talked about yesterday and it's been snowing ever since with no sign of a let up yet. It's a dry snow but I've had an additional 2 inches I would say so far..with about 3 on the ground. Right now, i have moderate snow and 29. Thanks to the melting, everything was wet so this actually dry snow has stuck to the trees and it looks beuutiful. Will need to take some pics and show them later.

The nam suggested this wouldn't stop until sometime this afternoon. I dare say I might end up with 5 on the ground by then at this rate.

What an unbelievable storm, I went to bed at 11:30 last night with hardly a cloud in the sky...woke up at 6:00 to more moderate snow....am right under the heavier band developing in NE Ga...still snowing hard as we speak.....this was utterly fantastic. Have picked up another inch I would say.

 its been snowing like that for a while - i hope it lasts another couple of hours :scooter:

Sounds like the DOT has been focusing on the interstates, so I would think that they should be okay. Secondary roads are snow covered. But, haven't been out since yesterday morning.

I doubt the interstates are in better shape than last night... snow has been falling since 2-3am and we have picked up another 1.5" since the 3" I recorded last night. Roads are getting worse... not better here.

I just had to clear the know of the thermometer and its dropping properly now... GSP is at 29 degrees currently.
