March 2nd, 2018 was epic.

The skylight cover/window over the stairwell in my row house in DC was lifted off the building and disappeared into the sky that day. Pretty sure the pressure differential between inside and out during one of the gusts is what popped it free. Epic indeed.

this board's negative feelings about wind will never fail to amuse me. I love it. I wish we had more days like this

Wind was cool until I got a home in the woods with 100ft tulip trees all around it.

Severe storms were cool until the 2012 Derecho and I changed my mind (see above).

Hail was cool until it destroyed my roof and ruined my car's sheet metal a couple years ago.

Tornadoes were never cool.

Snowstorms are still cool and probably always will be.

For our DC row home none  those things concern me except maybe hail destroying all the solar panels, idk.

From this morning LWX AFD for Sunday into next week temperatures

Thereafter, forecast uncertainty increases markedly, with both
deterministic models and their respective ensembles showing
considerable spread. This spread is illustrated well by comparing
the GFS vs the Euro and Canadian. The GFS maintains one coherent
trough, which progressively lifts northeastward over time, placing
us on the warm side of the system on Sunday, with a strong cold
frontal passage and much cooler air following for Monday. On the
other hand, the Euro and Canadian break the initially positively
tilted trough to our west into two pieces. The northern half of the
trough rapidly progresses to our east on Sunday, causing high
pressure to build to our north at the surface in its wake, and a
back door cold frontal passage to occur, leading to much cooler
temperatures on Sunday. The southern half of the trough is left
behind as a cutoff upper low over the center of the country, which
is subsequently picked up by a trailing trough. Southerly flow out
ahead of that system would lead to a warming trend early next week,
following cooler conditions on Sunday.

To further illustrate the uncertainty, ensemble members from the
GEFS, EPS, and GEPS show highs anywhere from the upper 40s to near
90 on Sunday, from around 50 to the lower 80s on Monday, and from
the low 50s to mid 80s on Tuesday. Along with that, there`s also
uncertainty with respect to precipitation. The current forecast
calls for low-end chances for showers each day, which seems
reasonable given the uncertainty.

Stayed above 40 overnight, 41.5 low here. Currently 42.1/29.7 and partly cloudy. JUST to my north and higher in elevation ground is white, lol, only sprinkles/drizzle here.

Low of 33 here but upstairs it was obviously really cold. Yesterday during heavier bursts of precip, it was a snow/graupel mix even with temps 44-45. Last evening, it was steady snow with temps around 37. Had some slush on the car this morning but nothing else (wouldn't even qualify as a T). Probably the last of the frozen precip until fall.

I’m planning on going to spruce knob WV sometime this week for astrophotography could any Mets (or anyone really) weigh in on which night would be the clearest?

Hate to say it but with the trough sitting out west and ridge pumping moisture into it, that's a classic combination of persistent high clouds in this area.

That’s unfortunate but do you think it would still be at least decent viewing and if not when would a good window be?

Fri,Sat,Sun nights look about equally trash. Friday night maybe has slightly less mid-level cloudiness? My suggestion would be to look at infrared satellite as the sun goes down each night and try to time a break in it.

Wish I had better news.

Tonight seems like it may be the only day that’s still pretty clear, sadly it’s also the day where my car isn’t available though I may be able to get there anyways if it’ll be clear.

Made the journey out tonight (with an assist from a now very tired dad) and it was awesome. Would highly recommend, and there was some snow at the top as a bonus!
