Weather Will
Wondering why the Ohio Valley has freeze warnings and we do not....Sterling NWS says it because our growing season does not start until April 11 in their latest discussion. So the growing season in the Ohio Valley starts before the Mid Atlantic? Something does not jive here....there should at least be a special weather statement or hazardous weather outlook. Because out there it's probably for tonight, thus the warning. Not sure about the growing season comment- that doesnt make sense. Freeze watches up for the MD eastern shore, down into VA and NC for tomorrow night. I bet Sterling will put one in effect overnight or AM tomorrow. I’ve been putting one out since Thursday . Everywhere north and west of Beltway will be 25-28 for 4-7 hours Tuesday night and Wed morning . Even temp crippled DCA should hit 31/32 for couple of hours. Told friends bring things in or cover and don’t plant this past weekend.

We will issue a Freeze Watch for most of our Delmarva counties (with the exception of the Delaware Beaches and New Castle County DE) since the growing season is considered to have officially started there. In the tier of zones just to the north and east, the start date isn`t until the 11th.

I'm 95-97% sure NWS won't issue freeze/frost warnings until 'growing season' (which is an attempt to figure out when the last freeze/frost generally happens) starts, UNLESS it is obvious that the season has started. I think it is sorta silly, once things start blooming/growing you should issue warnings. I think our growing season back here doesn't officially start until last week of April. MN Transplant
34 this morning. I’m skeptical of a freeze tomorrow in the warmer spots (DCA, local elevated areas), but the regular spots should get there.
wxdude64
Feels closer to what it SHOULD be at this time of the year (37.2 low) and a nice .90 rain total over last 36 hours. NWS missed low, called for 32. Nothing here, but ground is white to my west and north a little higher in elevation.
