I wanted to do it before this weekend’s rain, but if it will end up being a waste, maybe I’ll wait.

Chrisrotary12
I know you peeps in Connecticut are cutting grass already, but up here it still looks like mid January. Grass is barely starting the green.

Damage In Tolland
Has anyone else had issues with their Rhody’s leaves all browning? When I break a limb, it’s still green, but leaves look brown and dead. On multiple bushes . I don’t know if they are dying or should I leave them and see what happens ? Things have really greened here in the past few days so I could be mowing by the weekend or next week. You live in cool little snow globe up there. A large section of the shoreline was reclassified to Zone 7 in 2023. New Haven and West along the shoreline has always been the warmest part of the state but it's expanding east. Our state no longer has Zone 5B, which was in the northwest corner of the state and accounted for the coldest temperatures of -15 to -10°f. Most of Connecticut is now in Zone 6 with a large area along the shoreline in Zone 7. Zone 7 extends all the way south to parts of Virginia. 1
moneypitmike
There's a good chance I'll be doing the initial mow in Westboro on Sunday. I'll be at Pit2 on Saturday--looks like the weather won't allow for it there, though it might not be needed yet. It's a while behind Mass.

Heh I didn’t do it on purpose…our old mower broke. That was the first run on the new one. Usually I will let it get a little long so that the clover flowers and reseeds itself, but not like the pic above. I wonder if any of that grass that went to seed will germinate this spring.
Brewbeer
here's more on "No Mow May": Quote Mowing your lawn less — even every two to three weeks— allows flowering plants to bloom, providing bees and other pollinators with the nectar and pollen that they rely on to feed themselves as well as their offspring. linky
