TimB
Thing passed right over the north hills. My biggest hailstones were around quarter to half dollar size. Reports of up to golf ball.
jwilson
Had some pea-size hail here. Nothing extraordinary, but it was quite heavy in two spurts. Shows up quite well on radar, too.

TheClimateChanger
While yesterday's severe threat ended up staying well south of the region, there could be some feisty (thunder)showers this afternoon. While the activity looks to stay sub-severe, there could be some small hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph. Ahoff
Definitely saw very small hail on the way home. So sick of this cool rainy stuff. Yesterday was so nice, wish we could even get sustained 60s and a few dry days in a row.

Hopefully, it's another one like last year which saw 24 days of 90+ at KPIT. Forecast calls for highs near 80F tomorrow, a big change from the frosty start today!

That is the coldest max ever recorded in the month of April, and by a full 3 degrees at that. Interestingly, today also claims a tie for the record high for the month of April, with 90 in 1896. TimB Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM 79 on the 10pm hourly obs at PIT. Warmest 10pm temp ever observed in April at PIT. Edit: we also smashed nearly every hourly record overnight. Temp hovered at 76 until 5am and has just now dropped to 73 or 74.

Yes, officially the first April morning that hasn’t dropped below 73. If we weren’t getting a cold front today we could have obliterated the record warm low for April. Ahoff
Weird, because it's pretty rare to stay above 73 even in the worst of summer heat waves.
TheClimateChanger
6 hours ago, Ahoff said: Weird, because it's pretty rare to stay above 73 even in the worst of summer heat waves. Wind never died off completely. More of a pressure gradient than would typically be encountered in the summer. Although the high today (86) was no slouch either - just one degree off the daily record. Actually, there have only been 14 years in which it reached higher than 86F in the month of April, and another 11 where it topped off exactly at 86F. And only two years since 1925 have seen days more than 1F warmer than today in April. So from a historical perspective, this is about as warm it gets in April. TimB
To add to that, today is tied for the 7th earliest 86 degree day on record, and is third earliest at PIT. 4/11/1930 4/14/1883 4/16/2002 4/17/1896 4/18/1896 4/18/1976 4/19/1941 4/19/2025
