This morning was our first sub-freezing morning since April 2nd and our coldest morning since the 27.9 on March 27th. Behind the early morning cold front today's temperatures will be almost 20 degrees below normal for April with highs struggling to reach the lower 40's across the higher spots. The good news is we will see our first couple dry days in more than a week. A hard freeze will occur tonight with temperatures falling below freezing before 10pm tonight and lasting till around 9am tomorrow morning. So be sure to cover up or take in your sensitive plants. Tonight, will be our coldest April night since back on April 3, 2021 when the low was 26.3. We have an outside chance to reach our coldest April levels in almost 10 years if we fall to lower than the 24.5 degree low back on April 6, 2016. The below normal temperatures will continue all week with temperatures finally returning to near normal by early next week. Rain chances to ramp up again by Thursday afternoon and could last through much of Saturday. Current models have some significant rain amounts with between 1.25" and 2.00" of rain that could continue to ease any drought concerns.

Rain this weekend and throw in a couple good thunderstorms and you could hit 8-10". Still 3/4 of the month left...

Trough after trough and endless cold rainstorms in the long range wouldn't be surprised for a run at 10" this month

Sure hope something changes this looks like an April version of May 2005

I don't have a problem with this at all...anything to hold off the heat.

43F/Mostly Cloudy/Windy/April 8th/Projected low 24F

At my mechanic getting some lights on my dash checked out and there’s a guy there in a T-shirt and shorts. No jacket anywhere to be seen. It’s currently 39 and windy.

lol.  That's me.  Not specifically, but yeah.  I'm shorts and a tee almost all year.  Can't stand summer temps and humidity.

This morning was the coldest April morning here in East Nantmeal 25.8 and across much of the area in a little over 9 years since the 24.5-degree low back on April 6, 2016. We will continue with below normal temperatures for the rest of the week before we warm near or above normal by early next week. Some beneficial rain is on the way to closing out the work week with rain arriving late tomorrow and lasting until Saturday. We could see over an inch of rain is many spots.

It looks like a nice soaking rain is on the way to the area from tonight through Saturday. This will continue to erode any remaining drought concerns for the area. Most spots should see between 1.0" to 2.0" of rain. We have continued to see below normal temperatures so far this month and this will continue through the weekend. In fact, many spots will stay in the 40's for high temperatures through Saturday. We look to briefly get back above normal early next week before we yet again fall to below normal levels by midweek.

While it looks like we have seen our last measurable snow of the season....it is not unheard of to see accumulating snow here in Chester County during this full first month of spring. It has been several years since 2018 that we have recorded measurable snow. But on this date back in 1894 we were in the middle of our largest April snowstorm on record. Per the Weather Bureau observer (see his handwritten observations below) the heavy wet snow began falling at Coatesville at 10am on April 10, 1894 and continued to snow until 2pm on April 12th. By that time 29.2" of snow had fallen. Of note the temperature during the entire snowstorm stayed above freezing at between 33.0 and 34.0 degrees.

12z NAM has some snow in the Lehigh Valley on Saturday morning too. C-1” before it changes to rain and quickly melts. Still would be pretty unusual to see in mid-April with the trees budding.

Qtown gets it's last Nam'n of the season. Come one come all to this winter wonderland and enjoy.
