NorthHillsWx
Rain has started here. This looks like a rather potent low will form later today/tonight off the coast. Too bad this couldn’t coincide with cold air like the GFS showed earlier in the week 1
GaWx
As predicted this area has been inundated the last 24 hours with a very beneficial heavy rainfall, with the bulk of it falling last night: this Cocorahs map for the 24 hours ending ~7AM shows 2.4-3.5” over much of the E half of Chatham County into N Bryan County! Plus some more fell after 7AM and more is expected later today with the upper low. The last time the area had anywhere near this much was 11/7-8/2024. Prior to this, the heaviest since 11/7-8 was 1/21-2/2025: 1
GaWx
I was reading elsewhere that Greer, SC (elevation ~1,000 feet) has been having sleet mixing in with the rain (unofficial report).
olafminesaw
It would seem based on obs, that little or none of this band is reaching the ground . Quite a dry airmass!

Quite a dry airmass! It really is. Only been spitting here off and on and you can watch the returns evaporate as they get north. Does look to be consolidating more to our south. Could be a dreary evening if that makes it north

GaWx
This is wild! Despite only a marginal tornado risk, a tornado (EF2!) hit the studio in Seminole County, FL, a little NE of Orlando along I-4 this morning while the TV met was on the air!!

yotaman Posted yesterday at 03:16 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 03:16 PM Did not expect the storm we had last night. Lots of close lightning strikes and we ended up with 1.08" for the day. We surely needed that.
