32.6 this morning for the low. Looks like a hard freeze tonight. Wonder how many more hard freezes we have left this spring

Wow, hard freeze for you? Gonna dip down to 31 in my location for an hour tomorrow morning. After that, looks like we probably don't get below freezing again until end of year

NWS says 28 TWC says 26 either way that’s a hard freeze for here

Pretty impressive cold in central NC. 26 here right now, may fall a little more. Several locations in teens including Louisburg, Roanoke Rapids and Roxboro with a wide area of low 20’s. Seems like temps undercut guidance especially in rural areas pretty significantly

KSAV (official station at airport) had a low of 32 while Hunter AAF (close to the city and not as far inland) had 34. KSAV has had an average of 1 freeze in March. That could very well end up being the last and only one. Brunswick, GA, a traditional cold spot on radiational cooling nights got down to at least 31.

The contrast between inland and coastal stations was quite large due to a lack of near calm winds on the coast, with a partial onshore component from the NNE to NE. Coastal waters temps are mainly 55-56. St. Simons only got down to the upper 40s vs Brunswick’s ~31! Charleston downtown/Harbor got down only to ~44 vs well inland CHS’s 29! Ft. Pulaski likely only got down to ~49 and possibly as high as 50 vs Hunter’s 34 and KSAV’s 32! Sapelo Island, one of the traditionally colder island locations got at least down to 41.

This evening’s walk was easily the windiest in a good number of weeks as a result of the winds behind a secondary cold front having just come through. It felt like there were some gusts to at least 40 mph! I saw one transformer blow nearby. Temps were in the low 60s with dewpoints ~40 making for a very comfortable walk.

Low tonight/tomorrow night forecasted to be low 40s/upper 30s with very pleasant highs of 62/68 next 2 days.

We had a much needed ~0.4” of rain this morning from light to moderate rain in a fairly narrow fast moving band that went through in ~2 hrs. Nothing severe.

I’m thinking frost is maybe, don’t think hard freeze. We may not get another freeze for weeks. Trees are about to go nuts.

We only got to 33.7, clouds moved in about 4:00 and ended the cooling. Sanford somehow fell to 26 this morning.  I frost seeded clover food plots in early February and checked them yesterday and found it was already coming up. I bet we get a couple more freezes. Two years ago opening day turkey season (mid April) was 26 degrees at my farm in Franklin county
