Brian D
Temps peaking around 60 today on W wind. Very nice early Spring day. Possible record depending on what the co-op site records as it stands at 59 (1977). Looking at similar temps tomorrow before a front blows through, and drops max temps into the 30's. Temps will rebound back to 45-50 ahead of that strong LP moving into the region along with potentially heavier rains. Need the precip (wish it was snow though). Torchageddon
Another great day, lots of sun before 4pm that exceeded high point getting to 9C; forecast was 6C. Many days recently were expected to be cloudy only for partly sunny instead. One of the warmest days so far of the year expected tomorrow 13C partly sunny. There has been some bitter days mixed in but its a fine March, 13 years ago the rumblings of the insanity to come began. I was higher than the price of a Canadian bottle of olive oil! OrdIowPitMsp
First 60 today in Minneapolis. Good chance of our first 70 tomorrow. Backyard cam shows the snowpack took a massive beating today and will likely be gone this time tomorrow.

Looks like another record going down today, 55 (2014) here in town as forecast is for upper 50's (possibly 60 again). Edit: Looks like Duluth set a record as well. 57 beat 55 (2021). Today's record for them is 58 (2015), and could go down as well.

Looks like only 2 years reached 60F or better earlier [1987: reached 60F on March 6, and 69F on March 7; and 2000: reached 70F on March 7]. Should I call it record-breaking cold? I guess you can laugh at Ben Noll of the Washington Post as well: Where storms, potential floods and record heat will hit the U.S. this week And all of these other recent media references to "record breaking heat" including in such places as the Quad Cities, Portland, Oregon and Minnesota: record breaking heat - Google Search Surely, 70s to near 80 in these places are as much a heat wave for March 10 as 90s or 100s would be in mid July.

hawkeye_wx
A batch of high clouds earlier in the day held us back a little, but they cleared and we have surged to 74º. Southwest Iowa is in the low 80s.

michsnowfreak Posted yesterday at 01:00 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:00 PM Yesterday DTW hit 65. This was the first 60F since November 19th, nearly 4 months, and the warmest temp since November 6th. The grass is still brown but the only old dirty snowpiles you will find are in some parking lots. Brian D
After a warm couple days, avg temps today. Then back to warmer, and back to avg. Seesaw, whiplashes. Brian D
Hit 60 here in town again, breaking the record of 55 (2014), DLH hit 62 breaking the record of 58 (2015). A slew of records across MN/WI/UP MI region with some being substantial. Daily records that are 5+ from 2nd place are rather common across the N half of our sub, which shows how extreme swings are much more common than one would think. When I started researching that a few years ago, was surprised at the results.
