I don't know about college (need to check the rules), but it's a clean gather and 1-2 in the NBA.

Technically it was a travel. But it’s a travel that is never called. Watch any game and it happens all the time, one extra step before a layup or dunk or whatever. Just simply never called

It's a little trickier in college, I think.  While some people don't like the gather step in the NBA, I like that they have a defined rule where basically if you pick up your dribble with one or two feet on the ground (aka gather or zero step), then the next step is the pivot foot and the following step is the 2nd step (legal).  It would be illegal in that case for the pivot foot to return to the floor before the ball is released (3rd step), but that's not what Queen did.  He gathered with his right foot on the floor and took 2 steps.  In college, I suppose it would technically be a travel, but a little more debatable depending on which team you root for lol.

The other team didn’t protest so I assume they also thought it was fine. Terps still dancing so no complaints here lol

During the dribble, there is no "Gather" in Highschool or College.  It is about when the Pivot is established.  Once established, it cannot be picked up and returned to the floor. In Queen's case, it looked as if he established the pivot, took a step and then returned the pivot to the floor as he was shooting.  It was close, but he also did the same on a few of his drives.  If they let it go earlier in the game, they weren't going to call it there.

When a player receives a pass, they can also travel by lifting the pivot before dribbling.  You can only pass or shoot once you lift the pivot before dribbling.

For those of you interested, it's covered under rule 4-44 in the NFHS Rulebook, and as far as I know, the rule is also applied at all college levels.

@Chris78 & @nw baltimore wx

Doesn't sound like TJ to me :whistle:

Now it is something to keep an eye on in general has he said this kind of inflammation has flared up on him occasionally the last 3-4 years.

If he can avoid TJ that would be awesome.

Unfortunately he just can't stay on the field.

I think @WVclimo posted a stat  with years in professional baseball and inning pitched and his average was less Than 100 inning per season.
