Keep it to non political banter.   There is now a section for politics talk.  https://www.americanwx.com/bb/forum/38-limited-of-topic/.  There.

Keep it to regular banter here.  You'll get one warning.   Moderators have been instructed to suspend after the warning and then ban after that. I will not help you.  I will not bail you out if a moderator takes any action against you, so don't ask me.

Heading to England for the first time (first time overseas actually) last week of March.  Going to be in the London area... besides the usual touristy attractions, anything interesting to see or do?

I've been twice.  Meh.

But make sure you eat British food.   Just delightful.   World's culinary masters.

As for touristy attractions, best free ones are British museum and library. Best paid ones are Tower of London and Churchill war rooms. Less well known thing I did was go to Greenwich observatory. It was fun and low key.

I'd echo pretty much these same things.  British Museum, maybe some of the others (art museum type things), Churchill War Rooms, and there's I believe a WW-I museum too (since the US wasn't in that one as much, it's a remarkable perspective from Britain to see how impactful that war was in Europe).  Oh and St. Paul's Cathedral...when I was there many years ago you could walk up the stairs in the dome area to the top or near it, and look outside.  Stunning view!

Food...as @WxUSAF says, Indian cuisine is what you should look for in England, they should have plenty of good Indian places in London.  I'd also recommend a nice place for some good ol' fashioned fish and chips!  And any number of the local pubs, you'll probably find beers that you can't get around here, and when I was there several places had different stuff on tap, it wasn't always the same in each pub.

And of course...use the London Underground by all means, and buses, to get around town.  Just remember to wait on the correct side of the road so you're going the direction you want, hahaha!  You know, because those Brits drive on the wrong side!!

Did you get your Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before traveling, which acts like a visa waiver to enter the UK for short stays; this applies to tourism, business, and family visits.

lots of Italians have moved to London over the past 15-20 years so do some research on some of the newer restaurants.

Westminster Abbey is the best bang for your buck if want to see a church. so much history.

Sir John Sloane’s Museum. just an extraordinary place we stumbled across. https://drawingoffice.soane.org/

Found out some sad weather news today....

Coolwx.com is shutting it down (temporarily?) apparently due to recent political happenings.

https://coolwx.com/

I've used this site for literally decades every day, and gotten to know the owner over the years through email, so these are indeed sad times.

The 2/27/25 18Z run may be it's last update.... https://coolwx.com/cgi-bin/getbufr.cgi?region=FL&stn=KJAX&model=gfs&time=current&field=prec - stuck here forever, sucks...

Wow, I liked his time series output of the models.  Simple but effective.
