The strangest rain snow line I have ever seen. South of sunrise nothing but white rain, north of sunrise several inches of snow, and it stayed relatively constant up to new Hyde park. Usually the rain snow line sets up along the terminal moraine (northern state) Meanwhile steady moderate rain continues Yes, I felt bad for JM, that was the most ridiculous rain snow line I have EVER seen! Two other ones which were interesting were in the January 1994 ice storm and VD 2007, where the ice line was oriented to our east so that Oceanside was all frozen while east of there changed to rain. The March 1993 superstorm also had interesting snowfall amounts-- Oceanside and points west were 10-12 inches while amounts drastically dropped east of Oceanside. Or it could have been February 2010. Those two winters were confusing with the large number of storms. If there's any winter that calls for naming of winter storms, it's those winters. So we don’t know how much longer this dry pattern will continue. This could actually turn out to be a wetter than average pattern into early April with the fronts stalling out nearby. The few dry patterns last 20 years haven’t lasted very long before the heavy rains eventually returned. I think it's good we get the rain now, it gives us water in the bank for what might happen later.
