I'm confident (though not certain) that you know less about fire prevention than experts whose job it is to know. The issue is likely a lot more complex than you indicate.

California is a lot bigger, but their policy is hands off when it comes to clearing underbrush.  There is no forest management there.  They stopped that decades ago.  Truth be told, I know nothing about fire prevention, but obviously the Fire Chief of LA didn't exude much confidence either, since she was recently demoted.  Part scapegoat, I understand.

Overgrowth is a problem that experts all over the country admit to though, even the ones in California.  They even publicly cited the boom in rainfall from a few years ago as a reason for massive overgrowth and the excessive wildfires back in January.  They said because of the extremes of the pattern we are now in (excessive rainfall followed by extreme drought) big wildfires are now much more likely and are a year long threat not confined to one season.  They also said that when California swings back to an excessive rainfall pattern there will be a threat of mudslides and landslides because of the burn scars.

They even admitted that overgrowth not being cleared after their last bout with excessive rainfall was a problem.

Big picture here, if we don't fix the problem, nature will.  The whole purpose of wildfires is to clear excessive growth.  So either we do it, or nature will.

Just checked the weather for the week coming up. 40s and 50s all week. Pack it in, it’s over. Wednesday’s snow felt great, last one until December

While I would place the chances of additional snow events over 2” relatively low, we’re still going to get transient periods of cold. That seems pretty clear. That said, I’m thrilled with the amount of forecasted 50 degree days this week and even if you look past this week, not seeing any abnormal cold.

Did you check after next week ?

“After next week”. So we’re still chasing day 10+ fantasy snowstorms/digital snow on the models for March after the utter dumpster fire debacle doing that this entire winter….since November to be exact? It’s been an epic bust, a huge failure with these models for months on end…..

Any cold next weekend looks wasted as we are going into a dry pattern again

We might have a chance to sneak something in during the 4th to 10th timeframe but it’s not a slam dunk late season pattern.

I would just like a good rain shower to wash the salt away.     Been crazy dry this winter outside of 2 events (12/31 and last weekend)

I was driving on the highway yesterday and visibility was down due to blowing salt. I'm not joking either.
