Torch Tiger
there are parts of town 3-4 miles from here that are relatively higher up, like 350-400' and exposed a bit more, if not the highest points around. that's usually where the better winds end up

My son and I decided to not go snowmobiling and came to Ottawa for Rangers vs Senators tomorrow. The wind was crazy all the way up here. Car got pushed around on the interstate a lot.
Snowedin Posted yesterday at 01:03 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:03 AM Probably more wind today than we’ll get from any spring or summer time convection or perhaps hurricane season all together. Enjoy every bone-chilling gust while it lasts. Let’s get back to mist and drizzle soon! 1

I'm not arguing some peeps got hit good. We hit like 70? ish in Hanover/Pembroke during the first killer cutter Dec 2023, on a south wind and 60ish F. There was an incredibly heavy batch between Waterbury Center and 89 and then very heavy on 89 from Waterbury to between Middlesex and Montpelier. Multiple cars off of 89. There was a mercifully short stretch on 100 where I could not make out the tracks made by a pickup which was less than 100 yards ahead of me.

It might not be the most impressive event for a particular location, but the obs over a large geographic zone is a sign of a solid event.

We only got on the fringe echos, but the flake growth was big and fluffy. Only a half inch of air here. The 30-35dbz echoes had to be 1-2”/hr rates.
