0z AI looked like last week's event with precip centered mainly south, but probably rain.

6z just out (this is an earlier time than before and the website changed too, so it's probably the upgraded version) is a big rainstorm.

Yeah it has to be winter in the first place for it to end. Recently we've had late fall that just goes all the way until early spring.

96-97 was a pretty early one. I remember, as a kid, early buds on the trees.  I was torn when Apr 1, 1997 was originally suppose to give us 12"+ in Baltimore. A lot of people don't know this, but it shifted 1 day before to go north. It was originally expected to be a big one - killing the Early Spring foliage. The early leaves survived.

Certainly no bowling ball pattern with cold and snow in the East, not sure where that came from because blocking went poof, as soon as it started.   

Beyond hour 360 there are signals for impressive warmth in the East while most of the country is cold and stormy. Will not be long for Atlantic feedback loop and the WAR returns. Offshore Atlantic SSTs continue warm.

That sounds great! The sun angle and soil temps in mid March aren’t any good. Plus daylight savings time. Bring on the 70s!

+QBO/Nina has been one heck of a force to keep the 10mb layer really cold all Winter.. it's made it hard for -AO/NAO episodes to sustain. Imagine like a tornado vortex going from above to the ground.. although there can be wobbles from time to time, the strong vortex comes back to dominate..

I've only been glossing over the models recently, but wow...a whole lot of nothing showing up.  Will clearly need to get through this week before there's anything worthwhile to track.

Honestly, I feel pretty lucky with these past two winters imby. Last winter I scored two events within a 10 day period of deep winter. This year was like last year but with a longer period of deep winter. This winter felt great and I really enjoyed the adventures I took during deep winter.

Nope. 1 inch still a touch to my north. Plus it's 10:1, and temps suggest snow TV at best.

Snow or no snow, do we think it's safe to turn back on the outdoor hose bibs?  Hard to imagine pipes will freeze again this winter.  I would like to start spring cleaning and I do not feel like going through the process to shut off the water and drain the veins again.
