We also lost some good Charlotte area posters to the other site. I’ve ventured over there to lurk but it’s clunky and I can’t listen to folks from Arkansas complain when every storm goes their way already.

I cannot stand the other site. I’m over there too but it’s a mess. I know a lot of folks left here for there and I tested the waters but it’s like trying meth. Glad I only experimented

Raleigh also averages twice as much snow as Charlotte — albeit nominal amounts, and have had bigger snowstorms in history. So I suppose weird junkies in a way because we know what is possible.

Raleigh averages 4 inches per year and Charlotte 3.5 inches.  Maybe 5 at most if you go back far wnough. Your post is pure wrong.

The only storm in my life that I remember Charlotte proper capitalizing on was that late Feb 2004 storm. They had like 12+. It's not in a great location climo wise. No elevation like the foothills, too far west for coastals like this one, and normally always mixes to sleet and zr during Miller A's b/c it's too far south.

Not to mention it’s purely for transient nomads who live there temporarily, rendering it a soulless hellscape. But I digress.

I was banned because I used a different username when I couldn't post on a thread for some reason. The only reason I used the other username was because I couldn't get an answer from anyone about why I couldn't post on the thread.

Sometimes I read your posts in the character Brick Tamland's voice. This one did not disappoint lol

In all seriousness, I'm glad you got a decent event. Cheers!

RDU averages:

1971-2000: 6.9”

1981-2010: 5.9”

1991-2020: 5.1”

From https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=rah

Charlotte averages:

1971-2000: 5.2”

1981-2010: 4.2”

1991-2020: 3.5”

From https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=gsp

So, you’re right that RDU hasn't averaged twice as much as Charlotte. It has been more like 1.33 to 1.45 as much. But RDU averaged a bit more than you said.

This snowstorm sticks out to me for al the wrong reasons so i choose to forget it… i was in 6th grade at the time and in the middle of this snowstorm my friends mom went crazy and shot him and his sister and ran from the cops for 3 days. Tragically he passed away that day so i choose to try to forget that one.

The westerners did their best to burn this place down yesterday but we persevered and ended up with a great storm. Congrats to those who saw good snows. I’ll be interested to see totals but sounds like 2-4” for most of triangle with some isolated jackpots and much more to the east. Had a blast tracking this one and, as I finish my last drink of the evening, it is still snowing. A frustrating storm but our season total is now 5.10” (0.60”, 1.30”, 3.20”) and if @GaWxis correct that gets my backyard to climo for the season (I thought it was 5.80”). It’s been a wild ride this week but I’m glad we finally pulled out a decent coastal in central NC and enjoyed the discussion on here as always
