MJO812
Very frustrating hobby Kudos to the Euro AI for not showing anything significant . Like I said in the past , models should only go out until 120 hours. This is also my fault because I took off from work on Thuesday for the snowstorm. Sorry guys 1 1

Problem is one of expectations - but I encourage folks understand when in time these model performances should really be expected to do well. Sometimes they'll nail the D6 ... but this winter has shown on multiple occasions that there were corrections at less than day 4 that were substantial enough to be meaningful to more or less impact. This is a problem during this winter with a very persistent compression and speed; that has never been an arena for stellar model performance. That's what you get for buying into a fantasy range system... we've only seen it a thousand times before. Long range is only supposed to be used a guide or suggestion of what could possibly happen and in general if a system will be present... somewhere

Met winter temps have been running BN, but the DEC pattern was different from JAN-FEB. The new year hasn't gotten above 37 so far here while DEC had a trio of 2-day thaws, 11-12, 17-18, 30-31, that had highs 42-48 with minima running 16° AN and 3.30" RA. I mentioned that to Ray yesterday on how the discourse was pretty insane for 156 hour model solutions. I get that there was cross-model agreement but it’s still like D7, lol. It could have come back after slipping over the weekend but the time for that was probably yesterday.

weathafella
Outside of the epic late January through February 2015, 93-94 was my favorite winter. Cold and snow more or less belly to belly (ginxy expression). 95/96 had a bit more snow but the meltdown in January and again later in February takes it down somewhat. But in 95-96 we had snow otg for most of December-February as well as a nice system late in November. 1992-93 was my 2nd winter back from California and it was pretty good. I was in Dallas for superstorm in March but even afterwards snow kept coming. Of course my favorite all time winter was 1960-61.

Hazey
Wow this thing will miss by a country mile. Not even close. Even worse of a whiff than I thought. Won’t even touch St. John’s. Nickel and dimes to a subpar season it seems. Optically it looks good though with long duration snow coverage.
