It snowed in May of 1996 in part's of New York State.  Very cold Fall Winter and Spring.

I'm 53 and I can't remember a winter with such consistent cold as this Winter. December, January and halfway through February. Cold but fairly dry in SNE.

yeah I'm about the same age, was thinking maybe 93-94 in terms of temp, it was cold that season but not much snow, that I remember anyway.

It was only 1 run. Meanwhile all the globals shows a MECS/ Hecs either last Wednesday or Thursday night.

Awful performance from the Euro and EPS.

They bailed at D5 ... that's not bad.

Problem is one of expectations - but I encourage folks understand when in time these model performances should really be expected to do well.

Sometimes they'll nail the D6 ... but this winter has shown on multiple occasions that there were corrections at less than day 4 that were substantial enough to be meaningful to more or less impact.   This is a problem during this winter with a very persistent compression and speed; that has never been an arena for stellar model performance.

That's what you get for buying into a fantasy range system... we've only seen it a thousand times before. Long range is only supposed to be used a guide or suggestion of what could possibly happen and in general if a system will be present... somewhere

Met winter temps have been running BN, but the DEC pattern was different from JAN-FEB.  The new year hasn't gotten above 37 so far here while DEC had a trio of 2-day thaws, 11-12, 17-18, 30-31, that had highs 42-48 with minima running 16° AN and 3.30" RA.

Yeah this thing really never got inside D5. I mentioned that to Ray yesterday on how the discourse was pretty insane for 156 hour model solutions. I get that there was cross-model agreement but it’s still like D7, lol. It could have come back after slipping over the weekend but the time for that was probably yesterday.

93-94 was a good snow year for most of New England, it was cold with a lot of storms, don't remember any biggies but frequent small storms.

Outside of the epic late January through February 2015, 93-94 was my favorite winter.  Cold and snow more or less belly to belly (ginxy expression).   95/96 had a bit more snow but the meltdown in January and again later in February takes it down somewhat.  But in 95-96 we had snow otg for most of December-February as well as a nice system late in November.  1992-93 was my 2nd winter back from California and it was pretty good.   I was in Dallas for superstorm in March but even afterwards snow kept coming.

Of course my favorite all time winter was 1960-61.
