Sucks.....7 consecutive subpar seasons it is, but at least I had a wintry stretch this month. This season is subpar for most but the wintry stretch has made it look and feel like winter. But the lack of anything beyond middling is a big detraction. As of this moment, it is still a ratter. 1
Kitz Craver
I won’t say ratter. We’ve had plenty of cold and some decent pack retention. The failures, the pennies and nickels are not without notice however. Currently a C- grade for winter for me.

It’s actually quite amazing that I’m sitting at sub-30” for the season and have had almost continuous snow cover since 1/11 save maybe 2 days. We haven’t even had big time cold either…it’s just been a lack of torches and a lot of continuous “seasonable cold” temps. Hopefully this is the system to get this winter into respectable potential. If we scored double digits from this system, then respectable is within striking distance. 2
WxWatcher007
I’m sub 20” and not even 2” ahead of DCA or 10” ahead of RIC on seasonal snow. I think that speaks for itself imby. I do hope this produces. I’m not being negative for the sake of being negative. It’s been objectively tough sledding to get anything big this season.

I'm right around 23", so half way to average at this point, double digits here and some in March it who knows, could be nearing average at that point....One can dream I guess, long range actually looks active with cold nearby, so who knows

If we scored double digits from this system, then respectable is within striking distance. That's been my metric all along. This is far superior as a winter to me, than any since few years back. Continuous snow pack to me doesn't raise or lowered any significance to it, just because it isn't deep. Now... if we want to get into the affects of having left a lot on the table - that's an expansion into an intangible that ... meh, just doesn't bother me personally. The chances were real. We had real chances.. we've had continuous snow pack because of them now onto 5 weeks. I have contiguous white in all directions bermed off by snow banks for a long while now; yet keep reading how bad it all is and I'm sorta not really agreeing there. Last month's max was 37 and despite some mild and wet days in December, we've had white ground since Thanksgiving - first time since 2019-20. Edit: Miller A is spelled "out to sea" here. RDRY
Wouldn't be a legitimate tracking of a coastal without the GFS punting wide 4-6 days out.
