Steady snow and 19/18 with 0.3” on all surfaces. Current radar is looking like it might continue for a while more, maybe we could get an inch up here in Orange County.
Upton’s AFD

NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM FRIDAY MORNING/... As an upper low passes just south and an associated weak sfc trough moves through, snow showers have begun to overspread from west to east across NYC, NE NJ, western Long Island and the lower Hudson Valley. Forecast continues to carry likely PoP for those areas, and also have chance PoP into parts of southern CT mainly over Fairfield County and toward the coast. QPF remains light, less than 1/10 inch in general, and corresponding snowfall amounts should largely remain from a coating to around a half inch.
Can`t rule out an isolated 1 inch total in the higher elevations north/west of NYC and across parts of western Long Island where forcing with the upper level low will be stronger. Some minor travel impacts and slick spots are possible this evening. Still, some locales may not see any snow whatsoever, or just a few flurries, largely staying mainly dry and overcast instead, especially into interior southern CT. Clouds thin out regardless overnight as the upper low shifts offshore and drier air works in. NW flow increases tonight as the pressure gradient tightens between the offshore low and the strong inland high, which should preclude decoupling. Low temps range from the mid teens inland, to either side of 20 in NYC and along the coast, with wind chills in the single digits most places, and as low as 0 in spots well inland.

Is this sort of an IVT setup because the band is set up over NYC about 50 miles wide up thru the LHV and down across LI and parts of Jersey

Not true IVT but certainly a nearly closed low at 500MB, with weakness west across LI at 7/8h and satellite IR suggesting seeing aiding snowfall at 7P.   Also added the MODELED IR to check how good the HRRR can be at 1 hr prediction via the IR link below.

Wow, really coming down. Nice band in W Suffolk, maybe it’ll pivot in to Nassau. Hopefully can get an inch, maybe the 1.4” needed to get to 20” for the season.

Moderate to occasional heavy here in brightwaters

Props to the Vernon, NJ.  DPW. They have passed my house plowing and salting 3 times in the last hour. Just saw them again.  Make that 4 times.

My town did that last week. Busted up the entire road. Broken asphalt everywhere. Overkill

They just came by the 5th time. Overkill for 1" of snow? All I can figure is it's not accumulating as much down in the valley? Cause if it was , that would be their main priority. IDK?

Not CP but glad it happened fairly close to CP.

It took a long time to move east into Long Island, but glad it finally did.  Our roads are covered with snow plus it's windy outside.  Didn't see snow here until after sunset even though radar returns showed snow here at 4 PM, 5 PM, 6 PM, etc., it must have been virga earlier.

Flurrying.

what time did it start out by you? it was so frustrating seeing it snowing on radar here, 4 pm, 5 pm, 5:30 pm, etc, and even seeing it snowing on webcams in Manhattan as early as 4 pm but the snow didn't make it down to the ground here until after 6 pm.

But been snowing nicely since then and sticking to everything and it's very windy too.
