Hard to imagine much moderate snow when you only got an inch or two in 8 hours.

Yep and it was a very wet snow, the trees look absolutely gorgeous. It looked like it wanted to get heavier but just never actually got there.

It's paradoxical to me to get such a wet snow on the northern fringe of a storm lol.  Usually you get very dry high ratio snow on the northern fringe.  I'd love to see what the liquid equivalent was at JFK with their 1.5 measured snowfall.

There are some 3" amounts (including a 3.1" amount) on Long Island taken by NWS employees in Suffolk County. Those reports will likely be in the next PNS.

Don it was a super wet snow here (trees look absolutely stunning), which I didn't expect on the northern fringe.  If you can find the liquid equivalent for JFK's 1.5 inches of snow please let me know, I don't think it could have been 10:1 let alone 12:1 or more.

Thanks, the only report I saw was when I woke up at 5 am which had Upton's 2.0 as the highest number from Long Island.

That's an early PNS before the snow stopped falling on Long Island. All in all, it looks as if the storm was well forecast. The HRRR did badly, but that isn't a big surprise, as it was well off track by early yesterday evening.

0.21" precipitation was recorded at JFK making the ratio just over 7:1.

Definitely a nice picturesque snow. Wasn’t really expecting that but temps near 30 made it happen.

The models showed snow for our area all week. I see you like to be cautious with every storm lol

for some reason this area never gets ocean effect snow even though we have a 100 mile coastline with the ocean down here lol

It's uncommon for sufficiently cold air (to generate ocean-effect snow) to advect from the east.

It's pretty cool to see it happening today with the high in Quebec, coldish air in place, and a moist easterly flow.

Local spotters report 3” in commack at 3:45 am, so I’ll go with that number. Again we seem to “jackpot”. This area a snow magnet this season.

up to 17.8” this season.
