 Our days are longer now, so it's not like late December short days.

The idea that serotonin deficiency is related to depression failed to hold up on further investigation. But the SSRI drugs still work, for many people. Better options are being worked on.

The NWS forecast was excellent along/SE of 95 and for areas that got <1" and was decent, but a bit overdone for folks between 95 and their 1" line, at least from Philly to NYC. For giggles, I included yesterday's 18Z HRRR, NAM, and Euro, as 18Z was the last model suite that came out before the storm started. The Euro/NAM were quite good (and earlier in the day, also, as were most other models), while the HRRR way underdid snowfall amounts (and consistently did so); the NWS was right to ignore it as an outlier (with good rationale, as well explained by Upton), as did most on the board.

Went skiing in the woods near Sunken Meadow this afternoon.  The coverage was excellent, very few "submerged objects".  The temperature was near freezing and the snow was a bit sticky.  On some of the steeper hills that I would normally herringbone up, I just skied up as if there were skins on the skis.  It was absolutely gorgeous in the woods.  I may link an album with some photos this evening.

Like you said, it was satisfying.

I often thought back in the 80s when there was a lot of cold air interrupted by Great Lakes Cutters and there were still a couple of downhill ski areas on Long Island, that some kind of system like that to cover the trails on southeaster days would have been valuable.

Back in the 80s we had an above ground pool in the Bronx. I would remove the ice from the winter cover and used a concrete roller my dad kept in the back yard to grind the ice into “snow” and then take my sled and slide down the side of the house.
