Warm Nose
I reported 2.5 in the 9pm hour last night, woke and measured and additional 1.25" this morning so a storm total of 3.75" for me. Not what most got, but that cutoff line just wrecked anything north or west of it.

Maybe they are reading the metric side of their scale. Lol.
snowmagnet
It's pretty unusual for DCA to get more snow than Dulles, but I think that is twice this year so far! I got 5.75" in western Fairfax. I love the wet snow on the trees. Beautiful sight! 3
Kay
5 minutes ago, T. August said: We have the identical total, which is always reassuring lol. Properly cleared I had 3.7”, with 3.4-3.5” depth currently. Very little compaction. APG spotter reported 3.7" too. Maybe I'm a touch low but guess I'll stick with the 3.5" I actually measured
EastCoast NPZ
Early morning snow got me to 3.0". Longest duration 3" in history, but for the first time this year I actually made it to the low-end NWS forecast.

Seems areas just to the south didn't do quite as well. Like Havre De Grace. My guess is around 9pm we held on to that steadier band for a bit longer. Probably made the difference. Dover got 7.5

Odd that beach areas 100 miles to my south constantly beat I-95. Its been really odd. Its been awhile since we've had a storm where NW crew does good and the southern areas mix/rain. wxdude64
Final official numbers for the storm for me. There was 0.6 yesterday at 7 am on 0.03 liquid, then I cleaned a board every six hours and left one to do its thing. Measured 8.5/8.5 at 1 pm, 13.7/6.8 at 7 pm and then another 0.6 at 7 am this morning for a total of 15.9 inches, although the sleet and freezing drizzle had compacted snow down to 13.0. Total liquid was 1.48". Snowfall shatters 1983's 5.5 inches, liquid breaks 1985's 1.30 inches. Adding in yesterday's gives grand total of 16.5 inches on 1.51 liquid for the event.

Usually those N/W specials are coastals and we've had a hard time getting those in recent years. This being more flat, it was just the luck of the draw where the precip shield set up. Along and south of it you rocked. Otherwise, you were moisture-starved and had to eke out whatever you could.

I thought we’d do OK, but we maxed what we got on the very northern edge of the best precip and it piled up quickly once it started coming down at a decent clip. Headed to bed hoping we can squeak out another inch, but if we don’t I’m not going to complain one bit! Ended up with 8” on the dot, which jives with one of the spotter reports nearby. Looks like we jacked here, which is a nice change of pace.

aldie 22
Just finished shoveling while it was lightly snizzling there was a good layer of slush under the snow that made it heavy. It's a beautiful day!
high risk
New HRRR and NAM Nest runs have the late afternoon precip starting as snow or sleet for areas northern and central areas (before quickly turning to rain).
snowmagnet
By February 4th (or before), the GFS and the Euro ensembles had remarkable consistency forecasting a storm February 11th-12th. I believe this is the most consistency we've seen in modeling 2016. The GFS definitely scored a win for this, despite some crazy numbers on and off. 4
