Mrs.J
Snow is barely covering grass surfaces. Even though it is 28 the roads and sidewalks barely have a dusting on them. And they were not treated. Have had a steady snow since around 4. I know we were on the low end anyways but just interesting to see with the temps thought the roads would be more covered. gymengineer
13 minutes ago, stormtracker said: Indeed. When I was a wee lad, I used to get so mad at him He had some terrible decisions, like downgrading 2/11/06 to 3-5" just because it was rain/snow mixed in the afternoon. That was the "RAP storm" where Zwyts and company all stayed up late to experience some of the most intense snow bands in the overnight. And he called for 50's and rain multiple times in ice storm/sleet storm situations where CAD was obvious leading into the event. The one major plus side event he nailed was buying the ETA output and declaring the Blizzard of 1996 as a top 5 event for DC on Friday night's 11 pm broadcast, before any other DC TV met did. By the next morning, the events were set in motion for a Saturday pandemonium in preparation for the storm.

southmdwatcher
1 hour ago, mdhokie said: Do people in Virginia know how to drive? This storm wasn't some sort of surprise. NBC4 is showing video of the mixing bowl and 95 south where it is all shut down. People stuck on ramps and no way for plows or tow trucks to get them un-stuck. Maryland drivers are bad but we never seem to have mass chaos complete gridlock of our transportation. There were numerous drivers heading INTO Maryland from VA that also gridlocked RT5 on the hills because their Dodge Chargers were spinning out and going forward....this was at 5pm.....The massive traffic mess the day before the January 2016 blizzard ALSO happened this same way....numerous MARYLAND drivers with vehicles and tires that spun out and stalled and trapped numerous others because their vehicles and driving skills were ZERO on the 1 to 10 scale 1

South Central Texas is in for yet another round of heavy rain tonight on top of the 3.5 inches we got this afternoon. For the Mid Atlantic, high probability this puppy will overperform.
