Ended with 3.3 inches in Newark Delaware. More than I expected. Finally, not a bust.

Seems areas just to the south didn't do quite as well. Like Havre De Grace. My guess is around 9pm we held on to that steadier band for a bit longer. Probably made the difference.

Dover to Delaware beaches have consistently done better last decade. Odd that beach areas 100 miles to my south constantly beat I-95.

Its been really odd. Its been awhile since we've had a storm where NW crew does good and the southern areas mix/rain.

Final official numbers for the storm for me. There was 0.6 yesterday at 7 am on 0.03 liquid, then I cleaned a board every six hours and left one to do its thing. Measured 8.5/8.5 at 1 pm, 13.7/6.8 at 7 pm and then another 0.6 at 7 am this morning for a total of 15.9 inches, although the sleet and freezing drizzle had compacted snow down to 13.0. Total liquid was 1.48". Snowfall shatters 1983's 5.5 inches, liquid breaks 1985's 1.30 inches. Adding in yesterday's gives grand total of 16.5 inches on 1.51 liquid for the event.

Usually those N/W specials are coastals and we've had a hard time getting those in recent years. This being more flat, it was just the luck of the draw where the precip shield set up. Along and south of it you rocked. Otherwise, you were moisture-starved and had to eke out whatever you could.

agree- we need the classic coastal storm that turns to rain along the beaches up to Dover.

7.25” in Burke as of 10:50 pm.

Gotta admit that this far surpassed expectations IMBY. I thought we’d do OK, but we maxed what we got on the very northern edge of the best precip and it piled up quickly once it started coming down at a decent clip.

Headed to bed hoping we can squeak out another inch, but if we don’t I’m not going to complain one bit!

Ended up with 8” on the dot, which jives with one of the spotter reports nearby. Looks like we jacked here, which is a nice change of pace.
