What beautiful winter day. Spent 4 hours out cleaning it all up with the dog out. Overall heavier snow that was more like 10:1 snow ratio plus yesterday's ice layer made it a bit more work.
sbnwx85
Posted an update in the wrong thread earlier but the lake effect has at least produced continuous snowfall for about three hours now… although very little accumulation. Maybe an inch?

Maybe an inch? I’ve noticed over the years that the low moisture lake effect snow has a problem sticking during the day as you get into late winter and the sun angle gets higher. I remember probably about 25 years ago there was some very heavy lake effect snow squalls in early March. We had bare ground before that and every time it snowed hard, the ground would get covered but as soon as there was a lull, it melted. So we never gained anything. Also, a lot of times the cloud cover is actually quite thin during lake effect snow which doesn’t help either.
michsnowfreak
3.2" today after 1.6" yesterday. So two day total 4.8" (season to date 25.5"). DTW had 3.0" today with 2 day total 4.6" (season to date 24.6"). Had already prepared for a bust when going to bed, so enjoyed waking up to a beautiful winter scene. Snow depth is a heavy 7" and lots of large snowbanks everywhere. Definitely deep winter.
Snowstorms
With the storm winding down, my two day total is 11.5". My snow depth minus a little bit of compaction is now 26". Still waiting for the YYZ official numbers but it was at 10" as of 4pm.

The closest we've come in recent memory is 2014 where I had about 20" on the ground. Planning to go for a drive tomorrow when the roads clear up so will post more tomorrow. Here is my front driveway after shovelling.
Roger Smith
I posted earlier in thread downtown Toronto's recent snow depth record was 65 cm Jan 15, 1999 after three significant snowfalls in two weeks. That is same as today's value as reported above. I also mentioned Feb 1846 with indications of 30-35 in on ground from approx 40" of snow in eleven days Feb 11-21. There were no snow depth records kept back then. 1

I know several of our great years that Toronto got screwed many times. 1
Spartman
Got 2.5" of snow from this storm today. Finally some measurable snow for February after barely a trace during the 1st of of the month.
Jackstraw
I'm on about 3 acres kinda nestled in the woods so I've got decent protection from the wind. We got 2 maybe 3 after the days lake streamers. But even with the bigger snows the beginning of January, this ones been the most fun. Believe it or not we had 2,3, and 4 footers out here today. First time I've been able to hop the dog in the truck and legitimately go out and go drift busting out here in the sticks in 3 or 4 years. I know all the hot spots and they didn't disappoint. One notorious road that drifts will commonly have 2 footers with a 2 inch fluff snow and stiff WNW winds. I've seen drifts bigger than my truck there before in a 10 inch snow. Easily had a 3-4 foot virgin snow wave 8ft across that we blasted through. Sorry haven't been able to do that in a long long time. Fun time. Now we freeze lol.

I've not measured, but maybe 6" rn? Again, that's a very rough estimate Have you taken a drive up in the snowbelts of NMI? Its only about 2 hrs from Mt. P. My co-worker lives outside Kalkaska and says the snows up to his roof line in places. You mentioned not seeing deep snow before.

No, the farthest north I've been in MI is Tawas City last March (which didn't have any snow at the time), but I'd like to go up to that area at some point if I can ever get some free time. met major classes are no joke, especially calc 2 1

You haven't seen the best parts of MI. Do you need Diffy Q (Differential Equations) which for Engineering came after all the various calc classes. I remember that one being a though math class!! Not sure if you need it for MET.

I definitely haven't, only been to Lake Huron and mostly central/southern Lower. Yeah, lots of math w/ the MET major, after calc 2 comes diff eq/linear algebra, and then calc 3 after that. supposedly calc 2 is the hardest, which I'm really hoping is true.

I thought calc 3 was easier than calc 2. Good luck with difficult equations as we called it. That is a class either you get or you struggle for sure. 2
