It’s been 14 years since a blizzard warning in SEMI if anyone is wondering and that was for the flop storm famously known as ….ghd1

no. They didn’t need to issue one then but they did and that was the last time

To be clear, I know there's virtually no chance of the 3km 18z NAM happening (it doesn't even jive with how the upper levels look).

But got damn, it is some nice eye candy...

Would be nice to get some other models on board but the GFS is close.

Rgem continues to be way weaker and SE than the NAM

Why did you have to go there? Everyone remembers. To be honest they really did need to issue one but unfortunately it took that jog Northwest. Dtx definitly felt the pressure from surrounding offices to issue one.

With the storm system fully sampled and currently in the Rockies, perhaps the models are getting a better ingestion of data and we're starting to see some consistency with 18z. Although as I'm typing this I don't think there's any new data involved in the 18z suite

I couldn't care less about a blizzard warning. I care about storm total snowfall lol

I don’t care either. I’m just letting people know. It’s been 14 years since the local office has issued a blizzard warning. Of course and never really happened but that’s the last time one was issued.

I love seeing massive amounts of snow too, but there's nothing quite like a blizzard. Blinding heavy snow with roaring winds... ooo weee. It just hits different. It's a special and rare occurrence for most of us.

The criteria for blizzard warning is a little different in Canada than US, but we had our first blizzard warning in a long time back in Jan 2022.

What a storm that was. We got 4" in an hour. Nothing quite like a blizzard, you're right.

I think I'm even more interested in this than usual because I already have over a foot of snow on the ground. A big hit would make for an epic snowpack.

yeah my mom back home says there's about 6" on the ground. It's been a minute since we've had a big snow (6+) but on top of some decent snow cover, been awhile.

Anyone in eastern Iowa who can comment on the quality of this WAA? Looks decent on radar

Looks like DVN will finally saturate shortly before the back edge moves through. Going to be fighting dry air for awhile methinks.
