2/14-2/15 Potential Major Winter Storm

I think IWX goes with Winter Storm Watch(es?) overnight to cover the system and lake effect/wind. GRR may well do the same. Areas that don’t hit warning criteria from the system should get there thanks to the lake and the winds will be enough of an impact to justify it anyway. Both the HRRR and NAM have gusts over 30 knots on Sunday.

The WAA hit was more impressive than I expected it to be here. It's not often I get solid snow rates with ripping SE winds. It's too bad it didn't last very long though.

It did come down nicely here. Good rates. Relatively low visibility. If it was moving slower we easily could of got 2-4in.

Taken literally, GFS would be somewhat of a heartbreaker locally. Things really get going about 15 miles east. But this is well within margin and tbh, I'm already satisfied given tonight's performance. Went in with the expectation of ~2" total. Tonight delivered on that. Whatever we get on top is gravy.
