It's been a minute since we've had a big snow (6+) but on top of some decent snow cover, been awhile. There's about a foot exactly here now that the stuff from a couple of days ago settled.
sbnwx85
Hoping to get the goods from the system but truly am taking solace in the lake effect behind it. An inch tonight is a good bet. Then another 6" one way or the other Saturday night into Sunday.

But most winter storms create that effect, with plenty of wind and drifting. Blizzard is 3+ consecutive hours with sustained winds of 35mph+ and visibility at or below a quarter mile. Many blizzard warnings that are issued do not technically verify, even though they feel like a blizzard.

Looks decent on radar The WAA band was a total dud in Cedar Rapids. It produced flurries and gusty wind. 1

sbnwx85
Might be slightly dated but I can get behind this. Edit: actually if I learned how to read I can see it was issued at 2135z today so not dated.

OrdIowPitMsp
WAA stuff is winding down now. Good few hours of rippage with vis at 0.50mi, gonna eyeball ~2” here, we’ll see what the official measurement from MSP is in an hour. Maybe another 1/2-1” tomorrow as the CAA ramps up and the arctic comes to town for the week.

OrdIowPitMsp
MSP reported 1.2” while just south across the river there is a 1.9” report and the NWS office reported 1.7”. I’m measuring 1.7” on my sidewalk. Light snow keeps back building to St. Cloud so we might tack on some more.
