I don't think so. We're running several degrees colder than what was modeled at this current time. Even by the lake its sitting at -4C. Models had downtown at 0C (32F) right now.

Areas away from the lake might end up staying as snow.

Well that was a weird one. Went to bed with temps climbing fast. EC expected 36F by 7 am

At. 2am it peaked at 29.5F and quickly collapsed to 24F by 4am

woke up to 1.2” of sleet

storm total ended up being 4.1” with a glaze of freezing rain on all the trees

A good 6" fell here with ~10" on the ground.  While it was looking dicey early in the event it really picked up after 6 PM.  :snowing:

Looking back at the models, the 10:1 ratio maps were the best (even though ratios were not 10:1 per say).  Yeah there were runs that were were much higher / lower but the majority of the runs had this area 5-7".

Snowfalls rates should pick up for you between midnight and 6am now. Your area still looks good for 20-30cm.

I measured 6"/15cm which is about my late thought for total. Even with low wind there were modest drifts so hard to tell but avg is 6. The "storm" ended sooner than forecast at 3:30-4am instead of 6-7am. I also had a lull/dry slot at midnight rates really fell for a bit. After my 80cm onslaught in late Nov, this is pedestrian.

The next phase of snow has already started in which radar is just starting to pick up on; mood flakes for now.

What a storm. Definite overachiever. The warm tongue did not materialize as modeled. We've warmed up to 25 now but that's probably as warm as it'll get.

Measured 10" this morning. 10.2" officially at YYZ.

Snow depth at 16" now. Spent 2 hours this morning shovelling.

Your area would've lucked out close to 6" if that dry slot didn't happen for 2 hours yesterday.

I talked about it the other day about how models can sometimes miss the dynamic cooling thanks to the cold high pressure across Quebec.

Awesome!!

Once the system started to develop more it really help over here.  It was not looking so good (blotchy radar look) as it got going.  Around 6PM things started to finally get more organized / filled in.

Ended up with a bit over 4” and busted out the snowblower. It’s a beautiful snow - the fluff that fell last night is pure powder and made it super easy to clear. I love a cold snowstorm with temps well below freezing and can’t stand the wet stuff.

Yeah I agree. That dry slot really put a damper on rates for most of us initially as the storm was beginning to form and phase.

Wow. When's the last time Toronto had the much snow on the ground? We had 15" in 2021 but haven't had 16" since 2015.

Wheres @michsnowfreak

Surely his area got some snow last night.

I'm here. Was just busy clearing snow, sleeping, working. Jealous of your 16" depth. I love the big piles but I snowblow anything 3"+ now. Gotta take it easy with my big driveway lol. Though I did shovel for my mom.

Overall I'm pleased here. We had quite a late rally after midnight. Some massive flakes when I went to bed then surprised how much we had when I woke up considering it ended at like 3-4am. First i had big mixing worries (ended up with a glaze of ice and a few sleet pellets but was mostly snow) then I saw how the storm was busting for many to my west and the hires kept lowering and lowering qpf.

Had 3.7" here. Season to date 20.5". DTW had 3.6", season to date 19.8". Looks like most of SE MI had 3-4" with 4-7" on the north east side/thumb.

It appears only 3.6" fell at DTW.

Definitely a bit of a underperformer, but perspective is key. It's the best widespread snow event y'all have seen all season...

Technically the Jan 10/11 event saw 3.7" at DTW (3.9" here) edging out this event (3.6" DTW, 3.7" here). The difference being the Jan 10/11 was a a 2-3" event for most of metro Detroit with a small lollipop of 3.5-4" from downriver thru downtown. This event was a more widespread 3-4" event with the highest totals of 4-6" in the northeast suburbs.

In a winter full of pennies and nickels, nice to have a few dimes.

Last time we had this much on the ground was January 2022 after we got a massive storm that dumped 15-20". March 2023 came close with 12-14" but it melted quickly.

We also did in Jan 2019 after a storm dumped 12-16" with a maximum snow cover of 16-18".

Haha took me almost 2 hours to shovel this morning. We had 2-3" on the ground before the weekend storm that dropped 6-8" and now this storm which puts us at 16" on the ground.

Glad you got a snowpack again after the melting you guys experienced early Feb.

What is DTW's seasonal average? YYZ is at 37" for the season now.

It took me a bit over 2 hours myself.  I have a ~170 meter long driveway.   Doesn't help that I had to clear off 6 vehicles too.

Nice!! You have a great snow pack. :snowing:  I'm sitting at good 9" pack.
