February 11-12: Is it real?

Next week we are in a hybrid pattern of regimes favoring frequent snowstorms of lesser intensity .  A combo of the Greenland high regime and the Alaskan Ridge regimes.

From Tomer,    Note I said frequent snowstorms - I didn't necessarily say *major* snowstorms. The *biggest* snowstorms historically are more likely to happen during Greenland High regimes, while Alaskan Ridge regimes can favor more frequent snowstorms, but with a lower individual ceiling.

Is this the old AF person thread!? Damn it!! I hate me!  December 2010 I found this spot after Eastern WX. I mean I was using an effing Blackberry to type in here at times. Yes kids. I used fruit to text and email.

Marcus (formerly vortmax) and I cofounded #neweather on mirc back in 1997(?). Ian used to get on once in a while and i think Randy too, but im not sure. We were also, at least i was, very active on the ne.weather usenet bulletin boards. Gary Gray, Joseph Bartlo, myself, and a few others were the originals to that group.  I went by "SteveB" at the time. So yeah, I'm old as dirt and probably have most of ya beat wrt seniority. There is someone name Jerry that I think may post in the New England forum that goes back and also a Logan that might be in the NY forum, but i dont peruse those forums too often.

Me too - good old days of dial-up and slowwww downloads.  But because it was slow, people thought more about what they said.  I am really old - almost born in the 50's.

Oh, yes. dial up!  Never forget those modems!

I appreciate that I am not the only old timer that spends a lot of lurking time here. It is nice to share a strange obsession with others who have the same obsession

Sickly enough (we didn't have smart phones then or video capture yet) I have a few video recordings of those chats on vhs somewhere. Would love to dig those up someday. Was as much a weenie then as now and loved to archive whatever I could. I guess saving a transcript could have worked too lol.

Lol, that’s amazing. I still remember when i got my first computer and AOL how happy i was. Those were the good old days, when most people were actually sane and you cared about your fellow human beings. So sad how bad the world has gotten the last 35 years.

Haha! Since we're talking about being old, I still remember hooking up to the old dial-up modem, hearing that iconic rythmic static sound and buzz as it connected! And of course you couldn't receive or make calls while online. Then DSL came, where you could do calls at the same time along with blazing 1-3 Mbps speeds! Revolutionary!

Dial up wasn't OG.  The OG of weather message boards was the Telegraph and morse code.  I've been around that long.

And since this is the model disco storm obs thread: 36.5/35 and cloudy/clear

Go Caps and the 0z runs look dry/norther/souther/wetter
