2/5-2/6 Wintry Mix Event

I saw a brine truck doing its thing earlier and figured some advisories must have been hoisted. Then I had to think about what day it was and why they were doing it now. There's probably enough crushed salt left on the roads anyway (jk?)

Not sure what to think about this event. Obviously not a blockbuster like potentially exists on the horizon, but it doesn't take much ice or sleet to make driving a dicey proposition. Happening overnight and into the Thursday AM commute may make this more impactful than face value.

You may need additional nap time for overnight starting events....start the wine around 3-4pm, dinner, then a few hours snooze and you'll be good to go for any overnight activity, I'm sure of it...

First and most likely my last call for tomorrow night for Macungie - 2-4+ inches of snow and sleet and then a prolong period of light freezing rain and drizzle to form a nice crust. Real bitch to shovel and to drive.   Warning,  do not scrape off snow/sleet until event is over on the vehicles and walkways. Put down salt tomorrow afternoon. You want the brine on the bottom of this crap

By next weekend,  we will get crushed. 12-18+ inches for the LV looks promising. with the better model consistency coming into play.

Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems the starting time for this mess is between 4-6am where previously it was 1-4am. I think the later start time would be even more concerning more traffic on the roads etc.

I think you are correct!

They will brine the roads today, it'll be fine. It will go above freezing tomorrow and everything will be normal. For snow fans this sucks.

No, it ain't snow. But this was supposed to be our relax period. We were supposed to $hitt the blinds and rain until 2/20 or so. I'll take a period of ice as a small win.

Yeah, I guess I'll wait for the sound of pings on the window early morning. Birds are on my mind, this is secondary and a plus....

That 12z HRRR run is really snowy for much of Berks and the Lehigh Valley. I think it's out to lunch, it's the only model that mutes the WAA and keeps it at bay. The entire profile stays below freezing for most of the storm. I guess it's hard to know whether the warmer (NAM) or colder (HRRR) models will win out as of now. The typical model biases are being shown...

I get it eventually it’ll warm above freezing but out this way we tend to hold on to icing longer than predicted in almost cases, especially if it starts near rush hr

Yeah 100%. Rough morning commute for sure till about 10am

I don't see it being rough at all maybe just maybe backroads little dicey that's about it. Local burbs with the low around 29 or 30 plus they will brine today, should be mainly wet. The city should be no problem. Freezing rain sucks when it's in a low to mid-20s but near 30 it's mainly wet on the roads. Trees and branches are different story.
