Since this has been analoged to February 8, 1994, I want to see if we get similar heavy snowfall rates we had in that very memorable storm. The thundersnow was extremely memorable in that event but those snowfall rates brought true whiteout conditions for 2 hours.

That was just a wave more or less along a boundary, no surface low.  Outside of that first 3 hours only like 2 more inches fell, but 6 or so fell in 3 hours

As of 8:10 pm we're at 31F (but still only about 70% RH so not saturated at ground level yet) and we've gotten about 0.3" in 30 minutes with a very slick sleet layer on the bottom and then we had great snow for 10-15 minutes and now we're a mix again.  Going to be an interesting night.

As of 8:30 pm, roughly 1 hour into the decent rate precip, it's pouring snow again (lots of switching) and we have 0.4" otg at 30F with RH up to 80%.

it's 32 now, down from 33-34, here in southern Bergen county. Started off as drizzle, then sleet/rain, sleet/snow, now it's all snow, quite heavy with flakes of all sizes. I haven't seen it snow this hard since the feb 1-2 2021 nor'easter. I'm hoping it can break 2 inches here before turning to slush. 10 years ago I'd be happy with no less than 8 inches, now i'm pleading for a quarter-that. Strange times.
