0.08" ice accumulation as official spotter report

eta...cars and all elevated surfaces pretty coated.  Walking around on paved surfaces I didn't notice any slippery spots.

Yeah, they should have waited until this morning and sent them in to school.

Currently 33.0/32.2, overnight low was 31.4. Trees and other elevated have ice on them. The 'fun' stuff was the thunder and lightning between 4 and 6:30 this morning with heavy rain at 32 degrees. The 1.35 emptied out of the CoCoRaHS gauge at 7 am goes into 2nd wettest Feb 6th, only behind the 1.66 melted of sleet and snow from 2010.

30 degrees.

A coating of a mix of sleet and freezing rain  on the deck. Looks like roads/paved surfaces are just wet. Higher elevations of the Catoctins must be icy in the cascade/ blue ridge summit area. I know of atleast 1 accident on route 77 between Smithsburg and Thurmont.

Well, two things. First, the western part of the county has very different conditions than along 95. And secondly, as I said yesterday, there was already a half day scheduled for elementary schools for parent conferences. In order to keep the elementary schools number of days aligned with the middle and high schools, they either open on time or close in these situations.

Because of today, HoCo has used all 5 of its allotted snow days. Everyone wanted to go in today and not waste it. Well, except seniors.

Biggest difference driving from Columbia to Greenbelt was lack of ice on grass and low-lying surfaces below the fall line. Trees looked a bit icier at home too, but that’s a little harder to distinguish by eye. Car thermometer mostly 33 the whole way.
