I’m sure.  It is a remarkably fast moving system. But pretty rare to see it so cold just before snow breaks out.

Idk…feel like we used to get one of these each winter with temps near 0F as precip breaks out. We’ve had some good SWFEs over the past couple of decades that were pounding S+ with negatives at 2m.

Growing up in West Hartford, the town was phenomenal with roads...probably was a huge reason why we didn't have a ton of cancellations growing up. It didn't matter the size of the storm, it seemed West Hartford got the roads clear down to bare cement...meanwhile, you went to Hartford...DISASTER. I always got a kick out of right along the town line...West Hartford side, spotless, Hartford side...disaster.

Exactly! Longmeadow or East Longmeadow spotless.....Springfield...forget it

What you described in West Hartford, I grew up with in Bristol CT

In my experience, occasional but not necessarily every year.  They are awesome at one level, but you don’t really wanna stay out in it for very long. I think it was the winner of 2013 and 14 maybe where we had a heavy storm with temperatures in the very low single digits.

you’re too young to talk about the good old days.

Even if it doesn’t max out, we are in and near the beginning of a good stretch, most likely. It’s gonna be very deep winter here by Monday morning, and we’ll probably keep adding to it even if we get fringed. At some point, they’ll probably be another couple moderate or large storms by March. Been a while since we’ve had this kind of winter, at least the second half. I’m home all the time now with the babies and mostly just focused on the babies and eating and the gym so I’m really able to enjoy the winter unfolding.

not sure if it was that year or the next, but I remember out there blowing and it being between 5-10F, chain link broke on the blower shoot linkage and as I tried to stretch it to reconnect, slipped and nearly knocked myself out on the snow bank, that smarts when it's that cold...goods about to start pounding here it seems on radar

Wonder if we go to sleet after this heavier batch of snow moves through..

just keep an eye on that dual pol. Glad we didnt go 2-4 thats all i can say. I was always reserved about the somewhat showery look of the radar and warm air coming in fast.

1-3 should be good for much of the state. roads are all covered.23F here
