Several of us were talking about ice thickness at Deep Creek a few weeks ago. I was surprised that there wasn't any warning or measurement posted at the landing when I was there to go out on the ice. Obviously it's been cold again lately and the snowmobiles are out in force on the lake. Unfortunately two of them fell through the ice at the 219 bridge this afternoon and the helicopter came to medivac them to (I assume) the Morgantown trauma unit. If you are out on the ice, NEVER snowmobile near a road bridge - the salt from the road thins the ice and the result can be tragic. I hope these folks are going to be OK.

Unbelievable weather today. Just biked little Bennett. I’m kinda out of shape and patchy muddy sections made me work twice as hard. I’m still cool with another snowstorm, but think I’m ok with it not being a blizzard. Save that for our El Niño year. But if it does decide to blizzard I will see you at the 0z euro.

Super nice day with temps in the upper 40s and blue cloudless skies.

Don't think you need to worry about a blizzard lol. Nothing about the depicted pattern going forward suggests that is even a remote possibility.

Not surprised, I was thinking today that the biggest issue this winter, at least for the northern crew, was a similar issue we’ve faced here the last couple years…not enough precip with storm tracks either too far north or too far south. There’s an obvious lack of phased TN valley tracks and coastal storms in recent years.

Got some yard work done today, sun felt great this afternoon. Some daffodils already blooming in the neighborhood. My crocus are blooming. #spring

spring is where we get payback most years for getting less snow than NYC-BOS (although we have more snow than NYC so far this year).  Spring here is generally very pleasant.  Spring in NYC is up and down, and in BOS it's fucking awful (basically anywhere close to the water it sucks).  The backdoors and sea breezes can give you days on end with temps 45-50 and fog while DC south is 75+.

If we can get some sun tomorrow, seems like the type of setup where we’d blow past forecast highs by 5-8F

We were talking about that at the office this morning. No green up to curb things. This is the time of year where you can really add value against things like MOS

Today was an example of my most hated phenomenon this time of year.  Had to go to the doctor a few miles to the west of me today and it was 59F in their parking lot.  Drove back to my house and the temp dropped to 51F.  Must be a slight east component of the wind coming off the water.  Always seems that way around now.  DC will be mid-60s but here by the bay it's struggling to get out of the low 50s.  Comes with the territory.   Unfortunately it doesn't seem to help much in July.

Yeah the bay is bath water by then. Not to mention the flow is typically from the S/SW by that time and we cook.
